Bryan Intihar of Insomniac has posted up the latest patch details for Resistance 2's upcoming 1.40 update, which is currently scheduled to hit on Monday. The big fix is that players who had their multiplayer stats reset to level 1 are getting their stats back. But there are also a handful of other, smaller issues getting addressed. Here's the full list:
Multiplayer Progression
Some people have seen their competitive and/or cooperative characters reset to level 1. For several of those cases, this patch will not only bring back all the XP, stats, and attributes that you’ve lost, but it will also add to your character profile the XP/stats/attributes that you’ve earned since those levels were reset. For example, say you were a level 20 medic and after being reset to level 1, and you earned 5,000 XP. Thanks to the patch, you’ll return a level 20 medic and that 5,000 XP will be added to your profile.
This patch will also correct some medal and trophy issues, including the “Killing Machine” trophy (if you’ve already accumulated 10,000 kills but haven’t received this trophy, it’ll pop up as soon as you download the patch).
Here are some additional patch 1.40 details:
Trophy/Medal/Ribbons
“Salute Me” trophy is not awarded until player reaches level 31 (Lieutenant)
“Berserker” trophy can be collected during non-ranked games
“Survivor” medal can be collected in cooperative games
“Sure Shot” ribbon is awarded if player has accuracy of exactly 50%
Clans
Added clan support for viewing members, sending invites, and setting up clan tags
Default clan region is now USA
Match Balancing
Unbalanced ranked games are cancelled in staging before the game is started
Parties are prevented from matchmaking into free-for-all Deathmatch games
Competitive
Loadouts can be disabled in the “Create Game” screen in competitive games
Balanced the chance of dropping large ammo pickups in competitive games
Core Control scoreboard displays “Kills”
Improved scoreboard formatting
Cooperative
Balanced the amount of XP gained by the Medic class in cooperative games
Stalker movement enabled in cooperative games
Small ammo pickups don’t give LAARK ammo in cooperative games
Weapons/Gameplay
Splash damage on Pulse Cannon can damage the player firing it
Rossmore reticule better reflects its accuracy
Fire is easier to shake off
Players cannot swap weapons in the middle of a melee attack
Miscellaneous
Localized text updates
Network message optimizations
EULA displays the correct language text for Norwegian, Finnish, Swedish and Danish

Consoles have officially become PCs. First the massive Gears patch and now this. But I guess in this world of console game patches you don't really have to worry about your game being 100% on release.
This patch better fix my problem with connecting online. I know I'm one of the few, but for some reason my router is blocked out of their network which means I can't join any online cooperative and competitive matches. The game isn't bad single player only, but I know that I am severely missing out on some awesome multiplayer.
If this patch doesn't do anything for me, then that's it. I'm selling my R2, sending a complaint to Insomniac (telling them to shove it up their arrogant ass) and I'll be getting Socom instead since Sony cares enough about their consumers to at least try to help people out.
Frobro, I have no idea about what your problem is, but isn't a matter of configuring your wireless router? I bought COD4 for the PC and I was never able to play online because of some anti-cheat software (it would say that I had the anti-cheat software disabled because of the router when in fact I had it enabled). I never bothered configuring it, so I have never played COD4 online.
The stalker will now move in coop? Sweet! That thing has lust been a sitting duck every time it shows up. Now, if only they brought back conversion mode and those node modes (meltdown and breach) from the first one
That's good news I would think. I've been playing the game for about a month now and barring a few random network errors, it seems fine already. Of course, I didn't have my stats reset or anything like that so I can't speak for everyone.
@Fr0Br0: I recommend you try changing your router's settings. There might be some ports you need opened or something along those lines. If you can, try to contact either Insomniac, the company that made your router, or maybe even your internet service provider and see if they can help.
Well this patch has worked wonders for me. I've had the game about three weeks now and I haven't been able to go online once, I got the new patch today and finally I can get on, just had an awesome 60 Player match, although I got my ass handed to me!
"whats with this trend of adding stuff to and fixing gamesAFTER they release????"
I don't know but it's hella lame. At least in the case of R2 though, the game worked really well before this patch. I had about 4 days of play time and I hadn't even noticed all the things they have listed up there as issues. But then you have games like Fallout 3 (PS3) where you basically can't play them before they're patched. Then there was that whole Socom: Confrontation incident where the game was totally unplayable for 90% of people for like the first two months. I really don't know why this crap happens.
