Revenge is an act of violence, financial ruin, or emotional torment that one person or group carries out against another, in response to some perceived wrongdoing.
I also voted for the E. option. He was not a particularly likeable guy; someone who wanted to go through life without going through much excitement at all without anything to aspire to. Inadvertently obtaining information he shouldn't have gotten, he became the target of an extremely influential group and his death was swiftly planned. Unbeknownst to the organisation, he lived through the explosion they had set up for him to be in and he finally had something to live for: find and kill the ones who tried to murder him.
