Richter

Overview

An antagonist in Hotline Miami, Richter is one of the many that is compelled to kill by the strange phone messages he is receiving, and like the player character Jacket wears a mask.

He is first encountered at a lot of the hangouts Jacket visits after a day's work of killing, such as the pizza parlors and VHS stores. He is eventually revealed to have been killing the store clerks, and is in fact planning on killing Jacket. Upon invading his apartment, he kills Jacket's girlfriend and attempts to kill him as well, only Jacket survives the attack. During this time Richter was caught by the police.

Upon recovering, Jacket then invades the police station where Richter is being held, and kills his way through the precinct until he finds Richter. From there he beats him up, but upon Richter explaining how he too doesn't understand what is going on and why he is doing what the phone messages tell him, this gives Jacket pause, leaving the player to decide whether to let him live or not. Though the choice itself won't affect the plot in anyway.

Trivia

• Richter's mask, being a rat, will give the player a silenced uzi upon starting a level whence worn, as a reference to the uzi Richter himself used when shooting Jacket.
