It certainly would be nice to have them. I'm not sure I play enough to spend $300 on them though. I think a decent compromise will be to get the official RB2 drums and the Mad Catz symbol accessories to make it a little more like a real drum set.

    Nope.

It's like an iTouch...they'd be cool to have, but it's just unnecessary to spend so much money on that when you have a working alternative, in this case the regular RB or RB 2 drums.

Without question, the second they come out for the PS3 is the second I buy them. I shipped the PS3 version from America to the UK so I could play it early (PS3 is the only system not region locked that would play the game, and it still hasn't been released for the platform over here yet). I love this game, and if there's something out there which can make my experience better, then it's worth every cent to me.

Yep, getting it mainly because it can be used as a proper electronic drum set, plus it'll be compatible with World Tour as well. So I might aswell just put all of the money I would have spent on the new rock band/world tour instruments and just get the drum set.

Just wondering is it $300 on it's own or how are they going to sell it? Is it the Drums and Game or All Instruments and Game for $300?

The ION Drum set is $300 on its own, its meant to be a specialist piece of kit. The drum set thats included in the bog standard instrument bundle is a lot less flashy and expensive.

I'm very tempted.  I'd really like to see how they interface with my computer recording software, how they feel, and how quiet they are before I pick them up.  I kind of like the idea of having my RB1 drum kit as my "party" kit, and my ION as my no-party (a.k.a. "keep away from beer") kit.

Yeah, I'm gonna get em.  Like Water said, you can use em as real drums and they're cheaper than a lot of electric drum kits out there.  Does anyone know if green cymbal is one of the included or is that the extra? Half the reason I want these is for the feel of the crash and I'm not paying $50 extra for that.

Being a musician who works at a Guitar Center and who plays lots of air drums...this might just be right up my alley.  If it is totally a reasonable electronic kit it might be worth it.  The only problem with it is drum brains can get expensive, so maybe just buying a electronic kit would be better and leave the regular Rock Band drums to take up even more space.

For $150-200 I'd do it but $300 is just too much to pay for them, even if they can be used as an electronic drum set.

Do you really think that having this thing is going to make drumming easier? If anything, I think it's going to make it a little harder. Each drum is at a different angle, although I suppose you'd get used to it.

As someone who just enjoy Rock Band casually, I can't imagine shelling out the cash for the ion. It's more for people who enjoy actual drums I guess.

I'm considering it , seeing as how they double as an electric kit, and as a drummer, thats a plus for me. I wouldn't dish out $300 for a Rock Band controller alone.

That, and a metal pedal is so, so needed."
Are you talking about the regular drum set for RB2 or the limited edition Ion drumset?

No way in hell im paying 300 for them. I dont understand how you guys dont feel ripped off buying a 300 dollar drum set. Wait its not even a drum set its a videogame controller. And dont get me wrong they look freaking sweet...but ill be find with my rb1 drums,

one question though. Would the cymbol accesories work with the rockband one drums?

I'd love to have them, but for starters I'm poor as heck. And second my television is maybe a foot and a half off the ground, if I had a kit with cymbals I feel like it would obscure the TV while I tried to play.

heres the thing. its too expensive just to buy as a rock band drum kit. the only reason to buy it is because it turns into an electronic drum set. but i have a real drum set, so i just don't see the point.

Ion drums are a bit to pricy for my drums but if the new kit + cymbals are past $150 I will def think about it
