Does it work as a karaoke game?

I'm a big fan of karaoke video games. They seem to have mostly died, which is unfortunate. Rock Band 3 has been doing a more the sufficient job of filling that hole for me. It has an absolutely massive library compared to any other home karaoke video game. And the DLC library is awesome for cheap, drunk purchases.

I've been thinking about upgrading to Rock Band 4, but I've managed to get some friends hooked on the karaoke thing too, and I was wondering if we'd be able to effectively use it as a karaoke game. We've had fun in the past comparing scores on Singstar and Rapstar. Is Rock Band purely cooperative?

Does it allow two or more singers to compete?
