    Almost but not quite

'Rock Band' is the first game for Harmonix since breaking away from the 'Guitar Hero' series and gave the production of those games to Neversoft and Activision. Having a PS3, in which you can play PS2 games and use PS2 controllers and instruments, I thought that buying the PS2 version of the game and controllers would be cheaper and the game would be just as good with all the same features and maybe a little less quality in the graphics, but alas, I was wrong. The PS2 version of the game is as the critic's review said, a stripper down version of the next gen installments of the game. It's lacking the ability to choose your band members, and in a solo tour, it's just a bunch of random band members in random venues that are again, random. When buying the game I received a notice not to return the game to the store if any of the contents in the box were not working/defective and I think I know why. I can not get my instruments to work correctly. I started playing guitar with my 'Guitar Hero' guitar and I felt that the guitar was too easy, which I expected, this being the first game int the series and most first games are easy, in case it's your first music game to play. I have a feeling the drums will be more fun than the guitar alone, and band play will surely be more fun. It's a great game, but lacking some good qualities.
