Origins

Rock music, originally called "rock & roll", originated during the late 1940s to 1950s, from a fusion of several genres, primarily blues (particularly electric blues and jump blues) and R&B, as well as elements from jazz, soul, country and classical music. Rock music eventually diversified into different sub-genres during the 1950s to 1960s.
