for example  Machinima gave it a 2/10 and IGN gave it a 1.5/10 but is it really that bad or is it just too generic for its own good?

Reviews from critics and users tell me the game is bad because it's bad in a lot of respects. I haven't seen anything on it being generic though.

Part of the problem is its generic gameplay but even then it doesn't execute that generic gameplay well (dumb AI, glitchy melee kills, huge ironsights among other things)

And it's short as fuck.  Don't forget that.

From the Quick Look, it appears to be an unresponsive curse fest. It appears to be set in an overused area, with utterly generic gameplay.

The gameplay's bad and horribly executed with bad A.I., melee hits that sometimes don't work, and it looks very bland and boring. That's what I got from the quick look though.

I think it's great rental material. By the time you tire of Mickey Rourke spouting gems such as "retarded commie motherfucker" and describing in detail how he would like his dead foe to lick his nutsack, the game will be over and you will have collected some achievements.
 
The frame rate is shitty and the AI and detection are janky as hell. Still it's paced so quick that it's bizarre B-movie charm carries you through the short campaign usually in a good mood.

It is very BAD.
