Overview
RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is a theme park management game developed by On5 and published by Atari SA for iOS and Android.
Gameplay
Much has changed in the translation from PC to mobile. The game has a single map and mode which tasks players with meeting ever evolving objectives in order to grow the size and popularity of their park. The customization is much more limited than in past iterations, allowing players to only change the name of the park and roller coasters and the color of coaster cars.
Perhaps the largest change is the adoption of a free-to-play economy (despite the fact that you do have to purchase the game). This economy is based around two currencies: coins and tickets. Coins are used to purchase most items in the game and is accrued, albeit very slowly, by the entrance to your park and food and souvenir sales. They are not collected automatically and require the player to tap on the corresponding institution to collect its income. Tickets are used to purchase specific attractions and negate the countdown timers which represent the building of said attractions. These timers can be anywhere from a few seconds to over half a day in real-time.
Coaster building has been streamlined with many of the mechanics being handled automatically by the game. Braking and chain-assisted lifts are now placed automatically whenever a coaster car needs to slow down due to g-forces or help going up.
The research system has been replaced with XP. This is gained by just about every task in the game, including collecting money and playing mini-games. Once a player has enough XP he/she levels up and is rewarded with coins, tickets, and occasionally access to new attractions.
