R:Racing Evolution, known in Europe as R:Racing and sometimes known as R: Racing Evolution, is a multi-style car racing game developed and published by Namco for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube in Japan on November 27, 2003, in North America on December 9, 2003, and in Europe on April 2, 2004.

Sometimes seen as a spin-off of the Ridge Racer series of arcade-style racing games, R:Racing focuses on more of the simulation aspects of car racing and features multiple styles of motorsport (including GT racing, rally racing, and drag racing), with over 30 licensed real-world cars in total. The game is known for its "Pressure" system, where staying close to a NPC rival can eventually cause them to make a critical mistake.

Along with standard arcade and event-based modes, the game includes a single-player story mode known as "Racing Life", where players jump into the racing career of Rena Hayami, a Japanese paramedic who becomes a rookie driver after a team manager notices her expert ambulance driving. While aiming to become a top racer, she becomes embroiled in drama involving her team's sponsor: the shadowy corporation G.V.I.

    Cars

There are 55 cars in total, 16 of which are alternate versions (such as cars tuned for rally and drag racing). Most of these cars, along with special liveries, must be unlocked (some through the Racing Life and Event modes and some through spending RP).
