so I'm just droppin tha bomb, 5 years ago and in Holland that was runescape. 
for me it was actually the first game I really got in to and played a whole lot.

Played tutorial 5-6 years back, never touched it again.

Never played it. Whats with everyone talking about runescape recently what did it shut down or something?

I've played this game since 2001. There's a lot bad about it, but a lot good as well. I'd say it has the best quest structure of any MMO to date. It also has a fairly distinct art style, unlike most of the WoW/Guild Wars clones on the market right now. The developers also put a lot of work into the dialogue, and the market system, and it's one of the few MMOs that doesn't force you into combat through its gameplay. It's quite unique. 

I used to enjoy it somewhat when it was classic runescape, I can't get into the new one.

Gave it a shot a few years ago and then completely lost interest.

Played it a lot in Grade Four. Haven't looked at it since. Probably the first game I got really into.

Played it about 5-6 years ago.  It was my first MMO.  It was also a waste of time.

played a bunch a while back before there were hundreds of free mmo's

I played it when I got a computer for the first time and MMO's were new to me.  After finishing all the free quests, it suddenly became boring and I never played it again.

I tried it several years ago, pretty magical stuff.
I felt so good running back and forth to mine stuff and smelt it, or fishing in that desert area you had to pay for to get in.

i still play.. lol more like check ans see if my things sold. the in game market thing. the grand exchange is alot like the stock market. i buy feathers for 14 each and sell then for 16 each. this is what i would think the penny market is like. but it sucks because if alot of them sell for low price it actually effects the market.

Lasted good solid hour.

I was actually a pay to play member back when I was 13 or something. I'm still scarred by that terrible, terrible MIDI soundtrack.

Get out while you still can. It will consume your soul, destroy your mind and murder your children.
 
That said, that game hasnt been good since that grand exchange thing came in, the actual skill of buying/trading and communicating with others died when that happened, and with it, alot of fun.

I played in 03-04 quite a lot. I'm not sure what level I got to, but I had a few pieces of that blue rune armor by the end.

So, since I don't want to pay for WoW and a few friends were playing this (which I mocked them for) I reloaded my old character. "You last logged in 1201 days ago."  
 
Still in the high scores for fletching and thieving, shame I can't utilise them. Just currently in the process of hacking down oak trees to sell the logs to get enough for a rune set (I was a ranger and had members gear, blue dragonhide & magic bow I think) and my rune weapon is poisoned xD 
 
This is tedious, but I like the structure of the game. Changed a lot since when I first started playing in 2002.

I played it off and on for 8+ years now... crazy game really and i dont think i ever found anything similar. Tried wow and got a level 80 but it doesn't do it for me like rs dose. Only thing i will say is most of the community is young kids so either spend the time to meet people you like or you will get fed up fast. The game is tedious but having a group of friends to share your accomplishments makes it really addictive. Also, slayer has to be crack in gaming form. Im 99 and still going. 

Best MMORPG eva.

I was quite into it 7th and 8th grade, but then I realized there other games I could be spending my time on and so I stopped playing runescape.

My loser brother plays this game 8 hours a day... It needs to be stopped, and somebody needs to stop it... Fuck this game.

Played it in school for like two years. Pretty much the only mmo I ever played, joined a clan, had online friends did all that good stuff. It definatly has a level of addiction to it but after a while most of my school friends stopped playing and it just wasn't fun anymore as I had done most of the quests as well. Gave my account to a friends brother which is a shame as I can never go back in with my character just to check it out.

I played it when I was younger. Had a great time. It just felt different than your average MMO.  Every time I go back to see if it's still fun I always get that feeling of how different it feels, and it still seems fun even after all of those years.
