I've been playing for a couple of days now and can't get enough. Is anyone else playing?

Rust
Game » consists of 1 releases. Released Feb 09, 2018
From the makers of Garry's Mod, Rust is a multiplayer survival game with combat elements.
Anyone on GB playing RUST. ?
@_phara0h_: I just read the wiki description and woah, it sounds amazing. Do tell me more!
@chavtheworld: Sorry for not replying in a timely fashion, but I really like the game because I play with like minded ppl and go on there a do raids on other ppl's houses and try to get airplane drops and those sweet loot drops.
@_phara0h_: They closed the alpha signup just as I started looking into it, transitioning to Steam soon. Will check it out when it's available again.
It's out on Steam now. Anyone still playing this? Would love to check it out, but it seems like a game that really benefits from cooperative play.
@boomsnapclap113: I'm still playing it, but you can always you v to voice chat in game that's how I made friends that I play with.
I just hopped in there too! Really interesting ideas.
Just met a crazy man asking riddles. If you answer them right, he lets you live, wrong and he kills you. He was packin' heat. I got one right.
I added you, ThatOneDudeNick.
Here's my Steam:

My buddy and I bought it two days ago, and have already put in 8 hours.
Rust = Minecract + DayZ/STALKER = ADDICTION.
I got rust a few days ago, it's really hard. People keep saying I have a nice penis and then shooting me in the face.
The start is a bit hard especially when you're alone and don't know what to do.
But I've added all the ppl above me even dough you all live in north America

I didn't and don't have a lot of time since I got finals, but after 2 weeks that is over and then it's rust time :) also after 129hrs it was getting a bit old with all the server wipes and so. At least I'm really good at making my first base :)
Also if you're wondering what is coming in new updates: https://trello.com/b/lG8jtz6v/rust and http://www.facepunchstudios.com/2013/09/08/emergent-gameplay/
Just picked this up last night.
what kind of servers do you look for, when joining a server?
I started by joining the most populated server with a buddy - had a hundred or so people playing. Because of that high population, the resources were depleted and it attracted a couple of hackers.
After that we went to lower population server to get a feel for the game. We were able to build our first base, get a furnace going and do some loot runs. I think we’ll move back to the higher population servers after we’ve got the basics figured out. The one we’re on now is a ‘sleeper’ server - that means when you log out you drop to the floor like a sack of potatoes and your sleeping character stays there.
I made a gun! Then a Bear killed me. It’s great.

I would say you want to try join servers that meet this criteria:
- Community Server (Not Modded. Official is mainly for testing)
- Has been wiped within 24 hours of you joining, preferably same day. This allows you to join and not have everyone super overpowered with C4 and M4's everywhere.
- Has less than 45 players, because hackers tend to join overpopulated servers.
- Has active admins. You can tell by joining and asking the players in chat. It's important to have active admins in chat because you'll need active admins to actively battle the insane amount of hacking going on (wall hacks, speed hacks, aimbots, spawn hacks, etc... alpha is alpha). For example, we joinged a server that was just wiped, and within 60 minutes, 20 hackers had been banned. Hacking is rampant!!
- Lower than 40 ping. Rust is very sensitive to higher latency.
- Is a stable server. Ask players in the chat upon joining, "This server any good?"
These are just some things that have helped us have a good time! Hope this helps!
If any duders wanna add me, I just picked this up today and I'm digging it. Wouldn't mind having a crew, though.
xfeared_gunnerx on steam.

I like these suggestions, it's sad we have to go to these lengths, but the game is almost at War Z levels of hacking, I think these tips are important though to better enjoy what Rust has to offer, because there really is a lot to love once these issues get sorted more efficiently.
From what I saw on Unprofessional Fridays, I definitely will be playing this game.
Seriously though, I don't play the game, but even I can tell that it wasn't a fair or realistic representation of what that game is. Can't really write it off from that alone. Despite Brad's best efforts (still love ya Shoemaker), I'll probably end up checking it out eventually. I'm waiting for it to get a bit more stable.
The game is so addicting and fun when you're playing with a group of people. Brings back some of the best aspects of Ultima Online
Hey, guys. Just bought the game today and I'm looking for a decent, stable server/group of people to play with. If there's a regular Giant Bomb crew, can someone tell me where to go and who to talk to?
@sharpless Added you on steam. Also from NJ, interestingly enough. Let's build some shit.
Just picked this up as well, would totally love some chill duders to play with. Steam name is flomby, add away!
I tried playing but I only know how to collect wood and I don't know how to collect rocks so I don't know how to do annnyyyytttthhhhiiiinnnggg
how are the phenis physics
They're a little limp.
Guys, Add me: orlandodoom
I found a pretty good server, a great spot, and have a bit of a head start on some resources. Let me know if you're interested.
So me and some friends are looking to either play this or DayZ. Which would you guys recommend we go with?
I played Day Z a lot when the mod first blew up in the summer of 2012. It's good fun, and the stand alone seems like a vast improvement. That said, all there is to do is gather supplies and fight/hunt other players. I don't know if they've mentioned anything about end game/additional features, but that's it really. Like I said fun, but I feel like there's more to Rust. You can gather supplies, blueprints, etc, and craft all kinds of crazy stuff.
TL;DR: They both have a similar vibe, but Rust seems more robust to me. The extensive crafting/hunting/survival...etc elements make it the better game imo.
@deathtrap: All depends on which server you're in. Some are way more hostile than others. Check out @defector's Rust server most of us GiantBombers have flocked to. It's been very civil (so far).
@deathtrap: like verteBRae said, the server here on GB is faulty civil. We had some guys that are killing a little yesterday, but most of the GB guys are pretty nice people. If you hop on, I'm sure it'll be a pleasant experience and you can team up with one of us to learn the game a little.
Kinda bought it on a whim after seeing some people play it, and hearing about the hacking scandal (which just made me see the game more, not interested in hacking :P). Looks really awesome, but kinda need a safe place to learn because it's one of those games where everyone is very hostile~ Is the server here populated at GMT evening hours? (London time, basically opposite of AU times unfortunately)
Steam Profile: http://steamcommunity.com/id/gigaramnebula/
@gigaram: I would say maybe? :P. On weekends for sure, but weekdays may be iffy for you. If you join when a GB group member is in, we can help you out for sure and possibly let you join our settlement. Here's the server mostly everyone is playing on.
I'm looking to play a little bit of rust in the near future and I'm sure it would help me make the jump if I had a few duders who played on my friends list. Feel free to add me if you guys still play! steam - french023 or francais
Ill add you! Here's the server most of us been playing on.
