    Ryoko Izumo är en kvinnlig kämpe i World Heroes- serien som först introducerades i World Heroes 2 . En kvinnlig utövare av judo, hennes design inspirerades av den verkliga judtexperten och den olympiska medaljören Ryoko Tani. Delar av Ryokos historia hämtades också från manga- och anime-serien Yawara! , som handlar om en tonårsflicka som utbildas av sin farfar för att tävla i judo vid sommar-OS i Barcelona 1992. Ryokos egen bakgrund säger också att hon får utbildning av sin farfar.
