The first game in the recently announced trilogy of Saints Row proved itself as an over-the-top arcade-like alternative to Grand Theft Auto.   The sequel does not disappoint, as almost all aspects have been improved including the graphics, gameplay, activities and fun factor. The sheer number of things to do, combined with the competitive and co-operative multiplayer modes will make this game last a very long time for most ardent gamers. You play as anyone; almost any face could be made with ...

A little buggy and unpolished, but an absolute blast to play 1

Saint's Row 2 is without a doubt one of the single meatiest and tastiest experiences I've had on the Xbox 360 to date.  It's an absolute kick in the pants from the very start.  Whether you're blowing your way out of prison, customizing a bevy of vehicles, throwing down in an MMA arena, or kicking the tar out of a rival gang, there's always some fun to be had with Saint's Row 2.If there's one complaint I have with the game, it's the graphics.  The car designs can look a little ugly at times, espe...

This might not be GTA IV, but man, it's still very good 1

Saints Row 1 really took the gaming world by storm, with it's great open-world gameplay and good story. Saints Row 2 is here and takes place about 4 years after the first Saints. Your in a coma after having the shit blown out of you and you have to fight through loads of dolphins in your coma -- alright I'm lying. You actually start off after you woke up from your "coma". This leads to one of the best features, although there is a lot of them, this is by far one of the most detailed feature. You ...

A good game, hampered by lousy porting and technical issues. 0

Let's be clear: Saints Row 2 is certainly in the running for what could be called a GTA-clone. It lets you loose in a large, free-roam city to wreak havoc as you see fit. You have innumerable vehicles to hijack, and you partake in various street gang-related story missions. But instead of this being a derogatory comment against Saints Row 2, I mean it with the greatest of respect, since this title succeeds in doing something GTA does not. The game manages to hit all the right boxes for psychotic...

    Saints Row 2 0

When reviewing a game like Saints Row 2, it’s hard not to immediately start making comparisons with Grand Theft Auto IV. Both are open-world games where you run around hijacking cars whilst completing missions for less-than-stellar members of the community, both make use of the same mixture of popular music and quirky radio announcers, and each are in their own way, very much story-driven. With that said however, the atmosphere that each of these games offer are different enough that even in lig...

Crashes and Buggy on PC, but i still had fun 0

I ended up picking this game up during Steam Summer Sales for 2.50. I also got Saints Row: The Third, but i wanted to play through number 2 first as quickly as i could, mainly for the story. I had some problems getting it to play on my PC from the get-go. After a little google search, i found that if you change to properties of the games to make it think you are running it from a Vista (SP2) OS (instead of Windows 7) that i would load. I should have know it was going to be rough from that s...

Welcome back to the row 0

Five years have passed in Stillwater since the first saints row came out.The city has been changed into a whole new world thanks  to the Ultor Corporation. In saints row 2 you again make your own gangster and as a side note you will have way more control over how you want your character to look.In the story mode you will again take down three gangs so you can once again rule Stillwater.   One thing that is good about this game is how new the city feels, sure it may still be the same city, but...

once you get past the games graphics, the underlying game is fun 0

We've all met those girls (or guys), a common term goes "Butterface", if you haven't heard it before it goes "Everything was good, but her face". That's kinda like how i want to describe Saints Row 2. Lets get the main problem out of the way first, Saints Row 2, is no graphical powerhouse. In fact it looks like a first generation Xbox 360 game, which was what the first Saints Row was. The game is rife with jagged lines, blurry textures, poor special effects, the occasional dissapointing sound ef...

Saint’s Row 2 : An open world gangsta game that’s flakin' and perpetratinBut scared to kick reality.Story : After some kind of explosion from the first game, your character wakes up in a prison hospital, and doctors must rejuvenate you using the game’s character creator. (I’m sure it’s coincidence this very same aspect of gameplay appears in TNA Impact the video game, but developers and people in general should try to avoid having anything in common with TNA Impact, both the game and show.) Guilty Pleasure? 0

Now, you might think Saints Row 2 is a Grand Theft Auto clone. Well, partly it is, but then again any sanbox game would be. There are many great activities, and in the sense of humour and things to do, well, Saints Row 2 maybe even is superior to GTA IV. Saints Row 2 hasn't got a typically interesting storyline, but it's OK. Since you get to make your own dude and run around naked in the streets, who cares? It is glitchy and there are pop-ups now and then, but you can still enjoy the game and ha...

Not the deepest game, but loads of fun 0

The first possible mistake you could make coming into Saints Row 2 is comparing it to Grand Theft Auto IV. GTAIV took such a huge turn from the 3 series formula that it would actually be easier to compare Saints Row 2 to the 3 series. What Saints Row 2 tries to do is provide a decent plot and jampack tons of things around it. Some might say the plot is crude and not deep at all, and they would be right. However, instead of the story being great, the gameplay is what makes the game. You start off ...

Alright,I brought this game about a month ago.I have to say it was not a  GTA  knock off like I thought it was gonna be.It is filled with humor.I love the Karate Taunt in the game. But what I love is the fact that it is not as serious as GTA IV.I haven't completed the game yet.But all I can say is.Volition and THQ Got a good game on there hands.I can't wait tell SR3 comes out. Also the weapons, charcther custmaztion,Cars. It is a  awesome game.I give it a 5 in a half stars....

If you found GTA:IV lacking... 0

If you were pissed off by a lot of the stuff that didnt make it from GTA:SA to GTA:IV, this is the game for you.  Saints Row 2 takes all those wonderful side things to do and expands on them and evolves them.  You can buy properties, take over gang turf, customize cars (in meaningful ways too), customize your gang, buy clothing, all the fun stuff that GTA:IV lacked.  By far the best improvement over the GTA series is how this game handles cars you own.  Instead of find a great car then parking i...

Saints Row 2: The Game GTA Doesn't want you to know about. 0

Saints Row 2 is just fun plain and simple, however the experience is far from perfect. The game has a hilarious and wacky story that will pit you against rival gangs and the evil steriotypical Ultor Corporation. It plays much like any open world third person crime game but it's extremely over the top humor and brutal violence has a unique and enjoyably ludicrous flavor.  It's not without flaws however, the game has it's share of glitches and is not the best looking graphically.   But if your loo...

    Saints Row 2 Review 0

Saints Row 2 is the second in the Saint Row series. You will once again be taking the reigns of a member of the Saints and try to reclaim the city that was once yours. You'll have a large variety of guns to choose from, as well as cars to drive. You'll have to start small, but as you go through the game you will be able to take control of sections of the city. With the over the top exaggerations, violence, and activities this is sure to be a unique treat.Graphically this game looks on par with a...

    Amazing Open Level Title 0

This has been a rather good year for open world games. Mercenaries 2 was, for me, a lot of fun. GTA 4 finally hit and sold pretty darned well. Now, we get Saints Row making a return. SR1 was viewed as a fun, but rather blatant, rip-off of GTA.Well, it's still a carbon copy. This game is, basically, GTA in all but name. It's not as pretty and the characters aren't A defined and, overall, it's not as GOOD a game as GTA IV --- but I'll argue it's more FUN.At the end of the last game, there ...

Lords of the Row2: Return of the Bling 0

As the joker once said why so serious? A theme that saints row developer sticks too for their return to the hallowed ground of Stillwater. This game is similar in style to the Grand Theft Auto series but rather than go with the gritty portrayal of life on the wrong side of the tracks Saints Row throws caution to the wind and gives you some of the most outrageous moments and over the top characters ever met in a video game. The game takes place 10 years after the original, starting wi...

No, just no more terrible open-world games 0

Saints Row 2 is much like Saints Row 1 in the way that its not that good. Its an ugly, bland experience that tries to blend Grand Theft Auto with god knows what. I was a fan of GTA3 and dont think I hate it because its open world, it just does openworld bad. Yes, it has nice colors, yes you can run around ramming cars into shit all day, but the actual missions are terrible and broken and the combat is borderline unplayable. The driving feels like you have half a dozen sandbags in your trunk and ...

The Saint's Row that made the series fun. 0

The Saints have been dismantled, Saints Row has been transformed from a slum into a high rise commercial zone, and your mission is to build the Saints up as the new Boss. Saints Row 2 is a game that very much conforms to the Open World mold of playing as a mass murdering psychotic out for revenge and to make the world a better place (for you). This game is also markedly better than the first because of the addition of Cooperative play with another friend. That plus the fun open world jank you'r...

I never managed to finish Saints Row 2 on the PC, so when I found out that copies of Saints Row: The Third on the Playstation 3 came with a free copy of Saints Row 2 (and Best Buy had the title on sale for $30), I found myself obligated to pick it up and finish the game. If you still have not picked up Saints Row 2, I recommend doing so on the 360 or Playstation 3, as the PC version has issues with 64-bit operating systems, namely running in fast-speed.Saints Row 2 picks up after the end of Sain...

    Saint's Row 2 Standing Tall 0

When the first Saints Row was released I got nothing but the same mindless comments from people online and even some of my own friends about the game, they mainly pointed at the fact that Saints Row looks similar to that of GTA and it is just a clone, well I got the game and how wrong they were, the trait unfortunately carries over to saints row 2, but in the end its all talk.  Saint's Row 2 has a rather cartoony look to it despite the realistic gang war reality, Though this creates a much brig...

    Hugo Weaving's day-trip to Stillwater. 0

Vanilla is not an adjective I would use to describe Saints Row 2. In fact, Saints Row 2 is not the vanilla open-world crime game that it seems to be in its trailers. Quite the contrary, it is a marbled neopolitan with shades of vanilla, odd, and cra-cra equally represented throughout the whole of it. It manages to find a balance in these elements, but it never forces you to play the parts that you don’t want to with a few exceptions.Saints Row 2 picks up three years after the first game (which y...

Saints Row 2. It's the sequel to a game franchise originally considered a light-hearted clone of the effectively genre-monopolizing Grand Theft Auto series. In many ways it's a bridge tying the entire Saints Row saga together (with the possible exception of IV), building off of Saints Row's solid foundation and taking it further in a lot of ways. This game was quite advanced for its time, adding much more substance than many had expected possible from a "GTA clone". This reputation would go on to...

Not GTA IV but still hell of a lot of fun 1

After GTA IV rejuvenated the Grand Theft Auto franchise of games, it's hard to imagine an open world game doing it better, especially one who's predecessor was essentially a "GTA clone" though a very good one. Yet, Saints Row 2 delivers in spades, and not on the strength of it's presentation or it's storylines (as it was with GTA IV) but in its sheer overthetop ridiculousless and self-degredating humor that we like to see in this type of open-world game. The gameplay itself hasn't changed very mu...

Okay, so the title doesn't make sense, but then again... bug off. Anyways, I got SRII on release day and have been too lazy (swamped by school) to actually post a review for it. If you've played the first SR and liked it, you'll probably enjoy this one, if you hated it, then you might as well stay away. I'm going to follow the major trends here and do something all reviewers do... SRII is not GTA. Sure, it has the same sandbox concept in mind, and obviously any open world game that looks like GT...

    It's ridiculously fun 0

It's impossible to avoid comparing Saints Row to GTA. The first Saints Row was viewed as a momentary fix for those craving GTA-esque gameplay on the next generation of consoles, and thus was infinitely compared to GTA. Well, the first Saints Row didn't really benefit from these comparisons, because while Saints Row was a valiant attempt at recreating GTA, Grand Theft Auto was still viewed as the better franchise. Volition is now trying to counter that by giving Saints Row 2 a personality of its ...

Growing Up In The Row... 0

Playing the first Saints Row game for me was not entirely satisfying (3/5). Did not care too much for the way it ended with the story and with how the whole thing felt. Fast forward to present time things have changed. This time around Volition got a lot of things right, but others that they didn't get right.Story: (4/5)+ From where the first game left off. This story I would have to say it is better than the first one. Seems to tie in very well together. I wonder what Volition will do next.Game...

Saints Row 2 picks up years after the 1st one and shows how Stilllwater has changed and developed thanks to the Ultor Corporation. You play as the character in the last game as he/she awakes from a coma thanks to the events of Saints Row 1 ending. But this time, you are given a voice and can create any character you choose to have. Guy with a girl voice, sure. Girl with beard, no problem. It breaks Co-op 1

The new content is good but 3 short missions isn't enough to validate the steep price. Downloading this DLC also prevents you from ever playing Co-op with anyone who doesn't have the same DLC as you. Requiring both players to have the DLC even if its not going to be used is ridiculous as it would force your friend to spend over $17 in order to play any Co-op with someone who has downloaded the DLC even if there doing or wearing  anything that uses the DLC....

ProsA juvenile sense of humor. This might be a con in your books, but I'm all for some dick and fart jokes. A fully fleshed out co-op experience with LOCAL MULTIPLAYER. Over the top cut scenes with plenty of call backs to the original Saints Row. Over the top action. ConsOccasional glitches, some that can get you stuck inside specific places in the environment. For example I got stuck INSIDE some train tracks. No talk radio is a major downer. Saints Row 2 takes place many years after the or...
