    Hellish? I prefer "supertropical".

Right now, my Gat out of Hell save file is at at 95% with an 8 hour playtime. If you're expecting a campaign on par with Saints Row IV or The Third in terms of length, look elsewhere.

What you've got here is an oddly stuctured series of side Activities and minigames, and the "sidequest" parts of Gat Out of Hell ARE the main quest. You do enough of them and you eventually unlock the next story mission of which there are VERY few.

Luckily, these sidequests are quite good. They even went far enough to design an entirely new set of them that are different than Saints Row IV. This game's more toned-down version of "Fraud" is much more enjoyable than the super-powered variant in Saints Row IV, the survival missions are freshened up by a new set of weapons, and the "Hellblazing" races are fun thanks to the core mechanic of flight being very well done.

However, the structure of the game means you will miss out on some of the new powers & weapons if you just follow the critical path. The most fun I had was after the "story" was over, discovering the new weapons based on the 7 Deadly Sins and powers for myself and using them. My personal favorite weapon was the "Pride" handgun that turns into a deadly automatic grenade launcher after you kill a few demons with it.

Gat Out of Hell is enjoyable but hollow. The gameplay is fun, with the new Activities being mostly good and the new Flight mechanic being a very cool and different upgrade from gliding in Saints Row IV. But as a fan of the series, I missed the things that set Saints Row apart. There's no licensed music used cleverly like in The Third/IV, and the original soundtrack is very bland. There's hardly any real cutscenes so the humorous tone of the series doesn't get shown off. Even the musical number comes off as contrived, and doesn't live up to the comedic moments of Saints Row IV.

Gat Out of Hell is a good way to kill a handful of hours, but I can only recommend it at a discount price even as a big Saints Row fan. I played it for nearly 9 hours just trying to fully complete it and get every PS4 trophy, but if you are only here for the main quest it's 4 hours max. It's a fun diversion but unless you can get this for cheap, wait for The Next Great Sequel In The Saints Row Franchise.

Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell Review 0

Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell is not as long as any of it's predecessors. Neither is it as absurd, or as funny, or as deep. In fact it's plainly far less entertaining than either Saints Row The Third or Saints Row IV. However, as a cut-price, stop-gap to whatever the next piece of insanity Volition put out next; it's pretty darn good.Gat Out Of Hell tells us the tale of Jonny Gat and his descent into hell to save the player character "The Boss" from Satan, and The Dark Lord's plan to marry his dau...

A Disappointing Cash-In On The Saints Row Popularity 0

Is It The Same Saint’s Row I Know And Love? The core tenants of the “Saints Row” experience are kind of present; they take matters into their own hands and have the same carefree approach to their problems as ever, even when confronted with the prospect of taking down Satan. But if you thought where Saints Row 3 and 4 excelled was the writing, and you’re looking for more of that, then, sadly, you’re looking in the wrong place. The main cause for this, is there’s...
