Overview
Samurai Shodown V Perfect (or, as titled in Japanese, Samurai Spirits Zero Special: Kanzen-han) was a title that was being developed as a final upgrade to Samurai Shodown V and Samurai Shodown V Special. It was to be the final game to be released on Neo Geo hardware before all work on subsequent SNK titles moved to Atomiswave. The game fixed some bugs and balance issues, and presented a new story for its Arcade Mode. However, despite some location tests, the game never formally released to the public.
As a final title on the Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection released in 2020, a fully playable version of the game (with English translation for relevant locales), was announced and included, for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
In August of 2021, it was confirmed for release the following year for arcades using the exA-Arcadia platform. This version differs from the console release by restoring all of the censored violence including red blood spurts and original Overkills. Several gameplay bug fixes have made to the game including fixing Shizumaru's charge bug with the taunt button. Due to the different button layouts on NeoGeo MVS arcade cabinets, a new customizable button layout option has been added to the character select screen. Input lag has been improved over the NeoGeo version to be more twice as responsive. New illustrations by series favorite character designer, Shiroh Ohno, have been added as wallpaper for each character.
