Overview
Wǔjiàng Zhēngbà 2 (loosely translated to "The Generals' Fight for Hegemony 2", later known as Sango Fighter 2) is a 2D historical-fantasy fighting game developed and published by Panda Entertainment for MS-DOS PCs in Taiwan in 1995.
The sequel to Sānguózhì Wǔjiàng Zhēngbà / Sango Fighter, Wǔjiàng Zhēngbà 2 improves the originals' graphics and gameplay while adding five new playable generals and revamping the Story Mode into a strategy-based campaign mode, where players take control of the forces of one of four warlords (Liu Bei, Cao Cao, Sun Quan, and Lü Bu) as they make strategic attacks in an attempt to conquer China.
After acquiring the full legal rights to the game, North American studio Super Fighter Team re-released the game as freeware on November 6, 2013, adding English and Korean translations.
Characters and Warlords
All playable characters from the original, with the exception of Cao Cao, return in this game. Five new characters are added, for a total of 16 playable characters.
In addition, three minion characters are playable in Story Mode: Swordsman, Spearman, and Bowman. They have low starting health and a limited amount of special moves (which cannot be enhanced).
In Story Mode, players choose from one of four warlords, each with their own advisor and set of generals (all of which are playable separately in the arcade and versus modes):
Kingdom of Shu. His advisor is Zhuge Liang, and his forces start in five locations.
Kingdom of Wei. His advisor is Sima Yi, and his forces start in six locations.
Kingdom of Wu. His advisor is Zhou Yu, and his forces start in four locations.
Unaffiliated. He has no advisor, starts in only one location (with a larger amount of minions), and leads all of his fights (with a larger amount of starting health).
