    Design and Use

    The Sd.Kfz. 250 was a lightly armored halftrack, similar in appearance to the larger Sd.Kfz. 251. It was used similarly as well, as a troop transport, but mainly for reconnaissance units. The basic variant usually mounted one or two MG34 machine guns. Like the Sd.Kfz. 251, the Sd.Kfz. 250 had many variants as well.

    Variants

    • Sd.Kfz. 250/1 - The standard troop carrier
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/2 - Equipped with cable-laying gear
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/3 - Command variant equipped with radio equipment
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/4 - Anti-aircraft variant armed with a dual MG34
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/5 - Command variant with additional radio equipment
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/6 - Ammunition carrier for assault guns
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/7 - 80mm mortar carrier
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/8 - Armed with a 75mm KwK 37 gun and a MG34
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/9 - Armed with a 20mm KwK 38 autocannon with a MG34 or MG42
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/10 - Armed with a 37mm Pak 35/36
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/11 - Armed with a 28mm sPzB 41 anti-tank rifle and a MG34
    • Sd.Kfz. 250/12 - Survey and artillery spotting vehicle
