That's a possibility...technically. This is the first thing that popped to mind when the COO of Sega said that dormant Sega IPs are free to be used by Atlus. As far as I know, Valkyria Chronicles isn't going past the third installment and by the time Atlus is done with the big projects it has going now, VC can be considered a dormant IP. It's really the only thing that comes to mind and is an exciting possibility (well, it's exciting for me).

I could imagine an equivalent to Social Linking in Valkyria Chronicles with the chance of losing that person in battle. Also the story would probably be even crazier.

This, but let's be real: Even if Atlus developed a Valkyria Chronicles game, it still wouldn't come to the west.

Dormant SEGA IPs sounds pretty evil when you put it that way.

Atlus is pretty small aren't they? Can they really develop all these P3/P4 spinoffs + Persona 5 + whatever SEGA has that anyone actually cares about? And even after P5 won't they just do P5 spinoffs then get set for Persona 6?

    Wait.

Never mind, I'm excited now too.

@geraltitude: I think they are only developing two of those persona titles. The persona team will be doing P5, while it looks like another team will do the 3DS game, possibly the Etrain Odyssey team (as the 3ds game has the same director). The other two are being done by other developers not under Atlus.

Might as well. Sega has run it into the ground so anyone willing to try something with it is better than nothing.

They should take the combat in Yakuza and put it into the Persona games. Or just make a Persona/Yakuza spin-off series with Kanji or Akihiko just roughing up dudes. There you go, mind blown. Done.

Or we can hope for something a little more believable. Lets have the Atlus localization team bring out the Yakuza games here.

Most of the Persona spin-offs are actually being developed by other companies. Arc System Works did the heavy lifting on Arena/Ultimax and Dingo is working on Dancing All Night. In these cases, Atlus/P Studio is just providing the stories/art direction and advising on the gameplay.

As far as an Atlus-developed Valkyria Chronicles is concerned, it would be interesting to see, but I'm not sure what sort of game to expect considering Atlus's other strategy RPG efforts. The original Valkyria Chronicles is an excellent game, barring difficulty spikes in some missions and doesn't really play like any Atlus strategy game previously produced.

I'm more curious to see what the heck Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem is looking like. Because I mean seriously. What the fuck.

Plus they did make VC 2.....on a system I never have owned. So what stops them from doing similar and VC being psvita bound instead of ps4...or even backwards some more and ps3 still.

VC has not been treated well with consistency.

I didnt like Valkyria Chronicles at all. I thought it was overrated, a game propped up during a time whem the PS3 didnt have much going for it. I hope they will make a game from another franchise.

This has been my hope ever since Atlus got purchased. Sega doesn't seem to give any love to VC. There isn't even a VC character in their Sega All Stars racing games.

@hailinel, @vessel28: I see. Ignorance rectified. And here I was thinking Atlus was just bent over double. I forgot when SEGA bought Atlus that Atlus isn't just one development team, and was also a publisher. Ultimately I still think they're more likely to do Persona 6 than VC or much of SEGA's sleeping catalogue, but I'm sure there are some games I'm not thinking about which could be a good fit... like Space Channel 5!

@geraltitude: Atlus actually had several development teams even before SEGA bought them. They were able to work on Persona, various SMT games, and Etrian Odyssey roughly simultaneously. They were making Trauma Center games for awhile too.

I sure hope their next project isn't another Persona though. I can accept all these new Persona projects for now, but it better mean they take a good long break afterward to work on other stuff. If all they do is churn out more Persona stuff from now then I won't have much love left for Atlus.

Does Sega own the IP for Toy Commander? I just want another one of those.
