Senua is a young adult Celtic woman from the isle of Orkney, Scotland. She is portrayed by Melina Juergens using live performance developed by Ninja Theory and also voice acted by the actress.
Senua is the lead protagonist in the game Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, in which she ventures on a spirit quest through Viking mythology to find Hela, goddess of the underworld to reclaim her lovers spirit after he was sacrificed by Viking invaders on her island.
Psychosis defines a large portion of Senuas' actions, as her gameplay is constantly commentated by "furies", auditory hallucinations caused by Senuas' mental illness. This is a highly acclaimed part of her character portrayal and the game as a whole, made possible by feedback from people who suffer from pychosis and the Wellcome trust consulting for the game.
