    Sequel by a Different Developer

    Concept »

Long-running franchises often end up in the hands of different studios over the years, but a direct sequel by an entirely different company is somewhat rarer.

This concept only applies to numbered sequels, or those that continue the same storyline established by the previous developer. Reboots like DmC or self-contained series like Call of Duty's Black Ops are not included.

Fallout: New Vegas is perhaps unique in being a sequel by a different developer (Obsidian) to a sequel by a different developer (Bethesda's Fallout 3).
