The Jiralhanae are called Brutes by the UNSC. As a result of the expulsion of the elites from the Covenant, they serve as the primary antagonists during the events of Halo 2 and 3.
Elites, also known as Sangheili are a Covenant race in the Halo series. During Halo: Combat Evolved and the bulk of Halo 2 they are the primary antagonists. They became semi allied with the humans in Halo 3, and are in a political crisis during Halo 4, some still at war with Humanity.
Grunts are part of the Covenant Army. Due to their sheer number and low standing, they are often used as cannon fodder.
The Covenant Loyalists are a faction of the former Covenant Empire who still believe in the Empire's original goal of activating the Halo rings.
The Covenant Separatists is a group comprised of Elites, Hunters, and Grunts who learned the Truth about halo and have rebelled from the Covenant Empire.
Enforcers are large robotic automatons designed by the Forerunners, they are only released when situations are dire, such as the events concerning the Flood in Halo 2.

A parasitic life form in the Halo universe, which serves as a secondary antagonist throughout the series. It has no known origin, though it is rumored to be extragalactic.
The ancient race responsible for the Halo ringworlds, thought to be long absent from the universe.
