    Shigeru Miyamoto is best known as the creator of many of Nintendo's most beloved characters and franchises including Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, Pikmin, F-Zero, Wave Race, and Nintendogs. He was also the chief designer of Nintendo's Touch! Generation console series, which includes the Nintendo DS, Wii, and 3DS.

    Some of his games are just... awe-inspiring. Super Mario Galaxy was my favourite game of the last 5 years. Easily... And I play a hell of alot of games.

    But yes, Wii Music. Urghhhhhh.

    I feel like a nub, but before  2 minutes ago I didnt realize he made the zelda games too. He's a genius thats for sure.

    I give him respect and thanks for planting the seeds for some of the classics but a God? eh..no. The man is inches away from becoming the George Lucas of the Video Game industry. Yes, I said it.

    I think way too many people give him credit. I get the impression that for a number of years he's just a name, a friendly figure that fans embrace but as an actual developer? I think there's a lot more unsung heroes on the team who are the real brains behind the scenes. Miyamoto is a producer at best, a executive who might chime in from time to time, but he's not the creator or designer of the majority of the games he gets praise for. Old school classics a side, have a look for yourself. It's not like he denies it either.

    What? I'm not trying to claim the man is God, let's keep things in perspective here. But dude, educateyourself. I suppose you're talking about the fact that two or three of his more successful franchises have had multiple iterations? I can think of more than 3 ideas and innovations that Miyamoto is responsible for in just the Super Mario series alone. Some of them completely shaped the industry as we see it today. Even these days in his 50s he's still creating original new games like nintendogs and wii music, and he was a driving force behind the concept of the Wii.
    The man has invented and defined entire genres, and continues to do so. Few people have had as many innovations and remained relevant for as long in their field throughout their careers as Miyamoto has.
