Nintendo has always told Miyamoto not to tell people what his interests are, because they always become his next big game.
His love for exploring caves ended up being Zelda. His love for gardening became Pikmin. His love for his new pet became Nintendogs. His love for being able to play a game he himself can play became the Wii series. What's his next IP going to be about? Well, he now loves swimming!
During a recent shareholders meeting, Miyamoto unveiled his new craze, and therefore begins the hype train for the next new Miyamoto IP. He said since Nintendogs and the Wii series don't have actual titular characters (making Pikmin his last new IP that could be used as a Smash Bros fighter), it was time for him to make a new IP that had a character associated to it. Very interesting.
Also:
- He still insists Pikmin 3 exists. That silly goose.
- The 3DS will have a clock. Looks like I won the bet.
- The 3DS has been in development for six years. Meaning as the 3DS is getting ready to launch, somewhere within the bowels of Nintendo, it's 2016 next-gen successor is already being planned.
- He said there are no plans for a Nintendo theme park.
- But he said if there was one, it would not be like other theme parks except with their characters in it. It will be something new.
- Also, Ocarina of Time 3D will have the ability to create the facial expressions of Twilight Princess. Can't wait to see Link get into the fishing hole!
