This may be a sign that they are going to make a next gen game, maybe Persona 5 but who knows.
I say this is a good step for them.

Maybe an XBLA - PSN version of Professor Layton is in the works...still here's hoping for the P5 we all dream of.
EDIT: As I stated later in this thread, I confused Professor Layton with Trauma Center. I left the above as originally posted to avoid confusion later and to remind me to check my spotty memory before posting.
" Maybe an XBLA - PSN version of Professor Layton is in the works...still here's hoping for the P5 we all dream of. "That's a crazy assumption. I would think that Atlus would take the same stance on Professor Layton as Capcom has with Phoenix Wright: it just wouldn't work on anything except for handhelds.

Well Phoenix Wright was first on the GBA right, I'm sure it could be done on a Console then, gotta get that HD Objection
And why would Atlus be making a Professor Layton game again?
" @FluxWaveZ said:GBA = Handheld. And Capcom actually said that they have no plans to put Phoenix Wright on XBLA or PSN because it just wouldn't work on consoles. Maybe you would want that, but there's no doubting that there are many who would not bother playing that game if it required sitting down in front of a TV with a controller." @PenguinDust said:"" Maybe an XBLA - PSN version of Professor Layton is in the works...still here's hoping for the P5 we all dream of. I can certainly tell the Gameboy Advanced was a handheld, but it didn't require touch screen input when it was on that platform. But yeah I guess I'm speaking on how I'd like things to go my way, a man can dream right?" @Heartbreak said:

Like say a P4(P)(XBLA)(PSN)
Yeah, my bad. I confused Trauma Center and Professor Layton. I knew that Atlus had another strong franchise that was featured on handhelds. I get Layton, Ace Attorney and Taurma Center confused sometimes. Still, except for that part, I believe it is a possibility for them to try and expand that license to HD consoles. I'm not sure how many people want to perform virtual surgery in HD, but who's to say? It's just a hypothesis." And why would Atlus be making a Professor Layton game again? "
Not just that but "hasn't really make the jump"? I'm starting to see Brian Ashcraft (the one Kotaku dude who resides in Japan) use more and more Engrish in his articles."
Atlus, the game developer of all things Atlus, hasn't really make the jump into high definition game development. That may change.
"
Great job, Kotaku.
@Heartbreak: I never mentioned anything about touch screen input.
" And why would Atlus be making a Professor Layton game again? "I was wondering that too. Did they suddenly get bought by Nintendo when we weren't looking?
Kidding aside, they do have a fair share of series, but I'd like to see something completely insane on XBLA and PSN, and them to continue their MegaTen games as full games on those platforms.
" @Eirikr said:How exactly would you control that with analog sticks? It worked on the DS and it worked similarly on the Wii, but there are just some games that can't be done on consoles or even on the PSP because of the way you play. Games like TWEWY, Trauma Center and even Brain Age to a certain extent would not work on consoles and that's part of the reason why Natal and the Sony Motion Controller are being made." Well then if Trauma Center is on the Wii, then with the implementation of Sony and Microsoft's motion control peripherals, maybe Atlus is looking toward expanding the franchise to those consoles. I'm not saying that a P5 isn't in the works. In fact I hope it is. I just believe that there are other reasons why they could be looking for HD programmers, too.

Nope, you didn't say anything about wanting a TWEWY on Natal, I however thought that the idea of that would be an nightmare. Thought about how a DS game would be like with Natal and I didn't like the idea. Now simmer down." @Heartbreak said:

How so?" @FluxWaveZ: Tim Rogers is the infamous twat of new games journalism. Though sometimes, that works in his favor. "

Ah, sorry then. I thought your comment was directed at me." @FluxWaveZ said:

I wouldn't go jumping at the idea that P5 is headed to the 360 quite yet, guys. Atlus rarely if ever makes their games multiplatform, and given that their audience is first and foremost Japan, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if their next major console Megami Tensei title, whether that be Persona 5, SMTIV, another Raidou game, or what have you, is exclusive to the PS3.
Don't you go and get my hopes up and then give me heart-ache because I have to wait three years for a Persona game now.
