Happy Birthday Dreamcast.
Incoming new #1 fighter of all time babeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I'd love to do this to my old Dreamcast, but I can never find any controllers that don't have a screwed up analog stick.
Sonic dying in the pool has a lot of symbolic value.
Dynamite Cop was absolutely Dynamite. Especially like how meaty the opponents feel. The hits sound hard, the body bounces all over the place and you get to juggle enemies in the air if you so desire.
It's like a mixture of Resident Evil 5 & wrestling sped up 10x.
I worked at a Hollywood Video during the early access period back in 1999, and boy was it cool. We would routinely close at Midnight, and stay until 3-4AM (on weekends usually) playing Dreamcast in my store. Such a cool system, and it had such personality.
jeff absolutely owning at capcom vs snk 2

I think the beginning of Sonic Adventure might have been covered on GB more than any part of any other game.https://www.giantbomb.com/shows/quick-look-throwback-sonic-adventure/2970-15462 Sep. 9 2009https://www.giantbomb.com/shows/quick-look-game-room-for-091510/2970-15032 Sep. 16 2010https://www.giantbomb.com/shows/demo-derby-sega-dreamcast-generator-vol-01/2970-13325/premium-video Nov. 15 2014https://www.giantbomb.com/shows/unprofessional-fridays-07072017/2970-11964/premium-video Jul. 7 2017

Dynamite Cop is as legit as always. Good memories of that GI Super Replay.
Also, I believe in my heart that Zombie Revenge is a good game that definitely holds up.
Power Stone and Power Stone 2 are both great.
Fuck the haters.

Peter Brown is such a treat. Right up there with Jeremy Parish and old Jeff Gerstmann as my favorite old-gamesmen. I wish he were a more common Bombcast guest.
Japanese Youtube documentarians Archipel (until recently known as Toco Toco) recently did a two-part interview and retrospective on the Dreamcast and some of the folks who were instrumental in what success it had. They talk to Yoot Saito and Mizuguchi among many others. It's really well-done, like their other docs.
I guess embedding video is just broken now? huh.
Joke post: Got the official GB powerstone 2 play thorough. Sad jeff (as expected) is on the bad timeline of people who dont think its a "real fighter" much like his take on smash bros . Edit (jeff saying hed take PS over Smash when Brad tried to tarnish PS good name. respect). Sadly they dont get the mechanics much and it will fail come time for "science."
great video team. Glad you respectfully look back on games even if they fail. Most would chalk it up to dreamcast sucking even though it took some real chances.
Thank you for the framing transition when Peter left. It seems like a little thing but I love it.
dang no Jet Set or Crazy Taxi
That is surprising.
I only watched the beginning, but I kinda liked Sonic Adventure when it came out :/ Nothing great but certainly not as awful as Jeff's implying.
I've got super bad PVM envy just a minute into this video.
I love sonic adventure.I love chaos.I don't know why, but i do
@ice_queen: I literally don't know how in the world you can find someone as nice, informed and laid back as peter grating...I'm just lost for words. I wish they hired him tbh
3:16 video length. Oh hell yeah.
OK we need to re-do the Soul Calibur This Is The Run with one of them using the fishing controller.
Always fun to hear Peter Brown's insights, too bad he had to leave so soon. I should figure out a way to play some Dreamcast games, I somehow made it to 30 without ever playing one.

Jeff is always so weird with Sonic Adventure. Not because he doesn’t like it but just his attitude towards people who do like it. It really isn’t the terrible and hated game he makes it out to be.
Damn I loved my Dreamcast.
This was the first console I bought with my own money and loved the hell out of this console. A few years ago I bought a dreamcast because my old one had broken and had not played in in well over a decade. Withing 6 month I was bored of it, mostly due to the awful controls and poor controller. The console had some really interesting and creative ideas way ahead of its time, but to me has not aged well.
This is great, thank you!
It's not just watching old games, I can do that anywhere. It's the context that Jeff brings and the interesting insights into building and modding retro machines that Peter adds that makes this great. And the whole crew has a sense of humor that I really appreciate. Hope they keep creating great stuff like this for a long time to come.
I wish this was split into 2, a dreamcast special, and a ranking of fighters dreamcast special. If you ask west coast for a list of games on the spot like this you end up with a list of fighting games. I got bored by the end of this and we missed a bunch of dreamcast hits to see ports of fighting games that are everywhere. Which is something I enjoy sometimes in ranking of fighters but not this kinda medley format.
Anyone remember the Floygen Brothers?
i'm not saying he's a bad person. just not my thing.

RACaseal for life.
First system I ever bought on launch day. Walked into a Best Buy shortly after it opened and just got one off-the-shelf. I think this was the last time you able to do that with any console, even the original Xbox sold out at midnight launch after this. Also bought Soul Calibur, obviously.
Went to Electronics Boutique later the same day and got a couple of games (Ready 2 Rumble, NFL Blitz 2000) to go with it.
Also, Jeff skipping to the start menu on Sonic Adventure right before the music started up should be a crime.
4 player PSO full play through let's go.
@cheesebob: Didn't they date the Gianna Sisters for a while?

Damn kids today getting pissed that Old Republic wasn't KOTOR 3. In MY day, I got pissed PSO wasn't Phantasy Star V, and I LIKED IT!...wait, no...

Peter Brown x Jeff Gerstmann: Experts Assembled
I remember the first time I saw a Dreamcast kiosk in an EB Games. I thought the graphics looked "crunchy." I'd never seen such clean 3D visuals from a console before. I didn't grow up Sega, though, and never felt an urge to purchase one.
A few years after its release, a friend brought one over to my house, acting for all the world like an ambassador from a crumbling land. He lamented its swift demise, and after seeing his collection, I got where he was coming from.
You don't know how bad I want them to play through Illbleed.
I wish Peter Brown stuck around. Was fun having him on the stream for a bit.
I loved Dreamcast on release and still look back on it fondly. It's a cool system with some interesting exclusive. I highly recommend GB fans check out the Ill Bleed playthrough Dan Ryckert did for Game Informer a couple years back. It's a real hoot!
@lonelyspacepanda: And also their playthrough of Dynamite Cop!
