Old Games: 20th Anniversary Streamcast

Man. ChuChu Rocket is so goddamn fucking good

It's great that when Peter is talking in the beginning they don't show the screen that he's referencing. What's up with them being afraid of showing the feed? When a game crashes and they have to restart it through steam they cut away in like a second. When they're at the main menu during a stream or when a segment is ending they cut away before they're done, sometimes stuff happens in the game that they laugh at before they get to close the game. Why, they never did that before, it's interesting to see the screen.

This was an awesome watch, especially since the Dreamcast (and the Genesis) is a complete blackhole for me as I didn't have any Sega consoles as a kid.

Consult Peter Brown before you do any big feature capturing an older console. This was the first time an old console looked good on stream.

Though it sounds like he may have done it with Gamespot, This is The Run: Dynamite Cop! would be good. Or maybe some other arcade beat-em-up. Or a light gun game would be fun, like one of the Virtua Cops

It's usually due to one of two things: They are emulating and don't want to show this probably due to legal reasons. I doubt they actually care but their legel team probably pushes for this, just in case.

Or they are worried of doxxing themselves or someone else that uses the computer, so better not to show it at all until game is loaded in. This can also include not showing friends of the site's usernames on Steam or whatever.

Kind of surprised they showed the Dreamcast game selection menu at all. Though it looked like Peter's personal rips as it looked far from complete, so I guess that made it ok.

This is all my speculation so I may be wrong.

I never had a Dreamcast so this was fun to watch. Being an old-school wrestling fan I'd love to have seen them play WWF Royal Rumble as I never got a chance to play that one myself. Dynamite Cop! looks really good though! Might look into trying to get a Dreamcast and that game on the cheap somewhere...

I loved this stream and seeing games in the list I forgot I loved. Tech Romancer really just turned the switch on and the nostalgia flooded in.

I never played any Dreamcast games. I didn't really get into games majorly till PS2, but I'll be damned if these games don't look sharp and run well. Maybe it's however they're playing it? Even so, these games looks great. Way ahead of their time.

Edit: how have I gone this long on this earth and not once heard, let alone seen Space Channel 5??

Dang gbwest has the weirdest taste in games. No Crazy Taxi or Tony Hawk 2 and what is that Dino Crisis thing on the list? I didn't even know there was a DC on DC. Would have liked to seen that even though I know they hate survival horror. Still a fun show overall but a little boring starting with that beatemup game.

God damn I love the Dreamcast.
