god, that race......... man i was living a dream because I forgot that was even a thing.

That ledge in the race is notoriously hard to clear indeed. I always felt back in the day like you had to hold the jump button throughout the entire jump there instead of letting it go, to get just a smidge more height on it. Eventhough the character model doesn't really show a higher jump happening. And that star thing you need to hit definitly doesn't always register ASAP. My solution was to jump against the star to trigger it immediatly.

Just throwing these tips out there to the Kingdom Hearters at home.
