Yeah, I never interpreted Trunks' jacket as anything other than a denim jacket.

I played a demo of it at Tokyo Game Show. I liked it just fine at the time, but something must be very wrong with all the hate it's getting. Though I vehemently disagree about "behind the back games." Some people just can't grow out of 2D.

Welcome to the home stretch. As far as afterward, if you are going to subject yourself to Dragonball Evolution, may I suggest a few palate cleansers afterward? First of all, the Honest Trailer of that garbage pile is hilarious. And there's also 2 really fun death battles: Majin Buu vs Kirby, and Mr. Satan vs Dan Hibiki. Plus you'll definitely want to check out the movie Battle of Gods.

When Dragonball's creator Akira Toriyama finished the Manga he was so burned out he swore to never write anything Dragonball again. Then after seeing the live action movie, he anger at how badly it's makers had fucked up inspired him to pitch and script up the movie Battle of Gods. Plus checking out this movie and it's follow up Resurection F would be a good way for you to make a final decision on weather or not to look into Dragonball Super.

I am so excited for next weeks episode. i watched ahead, which is the first time I've done that, and man do they have some good moments coming up, mainly Vegeta's speak to Goku about how much stronger Goku is.

Really hope the Dragonball live action viewing happens. Would definitely like for it to be a Film & 40's though. Forgot how it worked out but I think Jeff was there when they did Tokyo Drift. So obviously what I'm saying is Vinny and maybe Austin need to get in on this action.

Of all the misconceptions about Dragon Ball Z, Trunks' jacket not being denim is not one I expected.
(Also that "I'm just Saiyan" joke is totally not in the subs version, so guess they're still just taking more liberties with the dialogue)

If Jeff & Dan have any interest in playing Dragon Ball FighterZ they have to watch Dragon Ball Super after Z Kai.

Super is definitely the best choice for the eventual follow-up.

OG Dragonball doesn't have any of their favorite characters (Vegeta, Mr. Satan, Majin Buu), plus the pervy stuff is much much worse considering most of it (from what I remember) revolves around Bulma, who is a child/teenager in that show..

I hope they watch that shitty Dragon Ball live action movie as a Film & 40s. Man that thing is ROTTEN!

I'd love for them to watch OG Dragon Ball at some point (as it's easily the best DB thing, just so much fun) but I guess they would be more interested in endlessly arbitrary power levels and idiotic storylines...god Super gives me a headache just to think about.

Also, characters are more willing to hug each other in Super.

Goku & Vegeta: Buu's Inside Story is such an under-rated game.

I disagree. Super is pretty much just a Goku show with some Vegeta keeping him company as a sidekick. Mr. Satan is almost irrelevant and barely shows up with the exception of some episodes at the beginning and another arc later.

Just because Dragon Ball doesn't have their favorite characters from DBZ, it doesn't mean they won't enjoy it. Almost all the things that they mentioned they like from DBZ were also part of DB and every time DBZ showed scenes from DB, they said it looked interesting.

DB has tournament arcs that almost resemble wrestling storylines, training scenes like Rocky, and a tower with enemies getting stronger on each level, including a Terminator parody. And also tons of comedy. Even if it misses some characters and won't grab them as much as DBZ, it definitely has enough elements that seem to line up with their personal tastes.

(btw, Bulma and Yamcha go from 16 to 22 during the length of Dragon Ball. They were young but definitely not children. Goku goes from 12 to 18, but age is a weird thing with Saiyans)

A Dragon Ball Evolution Film & 40s would be perfect!

But I wonder if they should watch it before or after og Dragon Ball, since the movie is (poorly) based on it and they only know about DBZ.

But either way, even without knowing the context of the original, I bet they'll quickly realize how Evolution is an awful movie.

That's how that Hot Topic model is feeling right now.

Instead of watching OG Dragonball or Super or Evolution or GT or whatever else, I'd rather see them watch something entirely new. I have a lot of suggestions I'd like to throw around, as does everyone who has ever remotely been into anime, but enough has been thrown their way that I'll just wait and see what happens.

Or we might not get another anime podcast. My understanding is that this thing is frequently difficult to fit into their schedules.

Yeah despite Kai having a much better English dub than Z, it's still a 7/10 at best dub overall because it still has a ton of inconsistencies with the original dialogue.

I'm glad they liked the episodes. I'd watched up through the Cell saga years ago, but this is my first time through Buu. My mind keeps on drifting in these latest episodes.

My dude, that's what the series is. Original Dragon Ball only isn't about power levels because the term didn't exist w/r/t Dragon Ball before Z, it's all about Goku training and getting stronger to take out the villain of the arc plus gags, goofs, and good side characters. The only difference is that his hair doesn't get spikier or change colors. Super's a great followup to Z in the same way that Z was to original Dragon Ball and I hope they keep going once they finish up.

That line is almost emblematic of everything that is wrong with the original Funimation dub of DBZ.

Jump Force's models, motion blur, and actual fighting looks like and plays like fucking garbage, BUT the effects are fan-fucking-tastic.

That whole part about the world of the dead and the “Washington Monument” seems weird now because it was all introduced in a filler arc of the Other-World Tournament that they cut from Kai.

To sum it up, that’s the world of the Grand Kai, it’s a world here the best fighters in the universe go to train and compete after they die.

Also, I’m really happy that both Jeff and Dan were so positive about this second half of Kai. I always felt like they were going to enjoy it, even though so many people said it was bad and they would hate it.

Yeah. The super stuff is what they would enjoy. People who say no just had to watch it each week. Its over so its much easier to get to the good stuff. Also the silly fillers and goku not knowing what kissing is will let them fully know how silly goku and crew really are. Plus vegeta gets best dad levels in super. That movie is...APPALLINGLY bad. As a Dragonball adaption, sure, but it fails as a basic movie.

I hope they watch OG dragonball i could see them getting pretty into the tournament arcs. Also the comedy is pretty on point, and gives you a greater appreciation of the minor characters of Z. Though regardless im sure they'll enjoy either Super for the slice of life stuff if they move on that one. Also with Super's dub not being completed they might want to wait on that.

This just makes Trunks into a young Rowsdower.
