Giant Bombcast 583: "Under the Top!"

This week we dive into Rage 2's vaguely pink wasteland, Mordhau's medieval kombat, loot box legislation, Tetris downloads, the new Ghost Recon, the old Final Fantasy, that jerk Bulbasaur, and what makes a hoodie a hoodie.

The Giant Bombcast is the world's most beloved video game podcast, and now it's available in video form.

This was incredibly fun and I loved the crew on this one though I'm 99% certain we had this combo before. Ben and Will were on fire.

When talking about that PUBG chat that Will had with some rando who called him a fuckface, he said that he was born before Will Smith rose to fame, so his parents weren't assholes who named him after a famous guy. Is that implying that had Will Smith been famous, his parents wouldn't have named him Will(iam, I assume)? I find that odd. But then again, not everyone names their children after someone else in their family/has some importance behind the name. I forget that sometimes. I'm also way overthinking this offhand comment.

Depends on the celeb i guess. Like him or not, Will Smith is not an objectively awful guy as far as i know, but the name Adolf got a lot less popular in the 2nd leg of the 20th century in my country. Similar fate for girls named Isis in the US. When the full name is identical to a celeb that conjures negative images for a large group of people, i can imagine changing it up. William Smith, Bill Smith, Willy Smith or an entirely different name.

If Will Smith is moonlighting on all these secret side podcasts, dipping his audio wick all over who knows where, I sure hope he's been swabbed before you let him on the Bombcast. Who knows what internet germs he's bringing on with him.
