Quantum Break had powers where you could be more in the mix during combat. It was also not "Call of Duty style." The game had a damn bubble shield and people are still acting like the cover was mandatory.

Gamestop imploding is not the death of retail, and online purchases are not necessarily digital.

Also (1) - You don't need homophobic crap in your game "cause it's 90's!!!" or because media a few decades ago use to have it in spades (not necessarily in obvious ways). Also, listening to people in your chat and taking their word for something they clearly don't know about and saying stupid things is beyond stupid and PR-nightmare inviting.

Also (2) - After the about-face, I am not buying anything from this dev or pub every again - and I am part of the target market.

The Seattle gaming store mentioned is Pink Gorilla. They have lots of more obscure and import titles and the owners are part of a fairly large local gaming community, with channels on YouTube. Also lots of import toys and plushies etc. Worth a stop for any fan.

BTW - Tayler K, according IMDB, is still acting in things - mostly TV it seems (probably a better option, less risk, and if your tv show is successful enough, years of 6-7 figures paychecks).

For big companies, the cool thing about settling a case is that no ruling is given on the crime they were charged for, allowing the companies to take the official stance that they are innocent, despite the fact that they are paying the plaintiff(s). They can say they wanted to avoid the cost of a drawn-out lawsuit, they didn't want to put undue stress on any participant in the suit, they wanted this over quickly, etc. etc. but one of the biggest boons is simply not being found guilty, which to them also means they can't be seen as guilty in the public eye. Statements refuting the charges after the settlement, crass as they are, are pretty typical, and are part of the purpose of settling.

How were both Alex and Ben stumped by the light switch in control? It literally has a sign next to it that says "The law of 3 applies".

He just pronounces words like a Finn would without having learned pronunciation and it's very common way of speaking English for the older generations who learned the language from books. I think the hate the Ion Fury dev is getting is way overblown, but the way they are handling it is incredibly stupid. I bought it before their meltdown, and now I keep going back and forth about refunding it. What would you guys do?

@avioto: Up to you man. I wouldn't blame you if you kept the game and played it if you thought it looked fine. Me, personally, I would probably refund it because I'm just tired of shit like this and it's a tiny way of sending a signal. But the world is vexing enough without people getting on other people's cases about which video games they like to play, so play what you want.

Wow, the Ion Fury devs really are making another old school Build engine shooter, down to the lame offensive jokes that wouldn't even play in the fucking 90s unless you’re 13. Very true to form.

Huh, hearing Ben mention there being actual rumors about Tracer in Smash is pretty funny, as my brother and I have been joking about Diablo being DLC for a while, and after calling Joker in a similar manner it'd be pretty funny.

I think a Blizzard character would be very likely, and as much as I DO like Overwatch I think I'd prefer a Diablo character from both a gameplay and stage/music standpoint. I mean, Overwatch basically has the one theme and that's it. Unless we just get Blizzard World and a whole bunch of dumb stuff that way.

That's why everybody else cringed and laughed so hard when Danny said it (after preemptively apologizing) and what those "rosebud" jokes were in reference to.

This game doesn’t seem particularly obtuse, you just have to pay attention. I also didn’t think the beginning felt slow, it’s atmospheric and unique. I dunno I just don’t know what Ben wanted out of this game, I thought the lead up to the powers was well paced and when you finally get the power you understand what it is and what it means. Also Threshold Kids, that is all.

Worth noting that KI (Killer Instinct) was also a X1 launch title and my personal favorite game that year. It’s one of the reasons I think the X1 launch lineup owned the PS4 launch lineup and still one of my favorite games to come out this gen.

From what I've gathered, transphobic slurs were used as item names in the game's code and the devs seem adamant about hating those rascally "SJW"s on their discord. I bet the "Ogay" (a parody of the shampoo brand, Olay) could've been funny in the right game and context, but these devs definitely haven't given the impression they're laughing *with* LGBT people.

I think when we are talking about 1/100th of a game's content that is offensive, but a developer won't apologize for it: is shitty. Making a sexist, homophobic, whatever-phobic jokes -in a game- is dumb. It would have been dumb in 1950, and it will be dumb in 2050. If you look at what the content is in the game, it is content that has ZERO effect on story or "a point". The content could have been removed, that woudl not fix it for all people, but it would have been the proper step. Yet, when Richard Gobeille from the game blames SJWs as being too sensitive and keeps in [offensive terms] -Well, stooping to that puts his or any argument out the window.

I think what has blown this up is Richard Gobeille, doubling down. t Richard Gobeille expanded that Venn diagram of people who wanted nothing to do with his companies game when he doubled down. I think 3D Realms saying, one of their offensive puns is protected free speech is extremely dumb.

I think fans can like 99% of a game and still be sickened when the other 1% is offensive. And, I think loving 99% and hating 1% is a perfectly justified reason to not play what you love. Just as Uncle Sal or Aunt Bertha saying some really racist at Thanksgiving can ruin a meal. Amount does not matter" a pea-sized lump of dog shit in a 5 gallon bucket of chili still ruins it. The amount of vile phobic contnet becomes irrelevant, it being a mean as a joke (which I now do not think is the case now that Gobeille is spouting off) is irrelevant.

Did I just play Quantum Break different from everyone else or are Ben and Danny just out of their minds for comparing it to Call of Duty/Gears of War? I feel like it forced you not to play it as a cover shooter.

Also saying Remedy isn’t known for great shooting just seems kind of wrong if you’ve only played their one game that didn’t have great shooting. Max Payne 1 & 2 were revered for their shooting.
