Kirby's boat being named the Donkey Kong was appropriate because he argued for Nintendo when Universal Studios took them to court for DK supposedly infringing on King Kong. The case got dismissed when it was shown that Universal Studios had won an unrelated case where Universal argued that King Kong was in the public domain.

Regarding load times and SSDs, it's good to remember the difference between the top-spec NVME drive and a mid-tier sata SSD is negligible for game load times, despite the former having a bus that's multiple times faster. Even when running a game install off a RAM drive, you still don't see instantaneous load times because the CPU still has to churn through unpacking and loading all the assets.

"That game is like 3 stars," Jeff, not everyone has the same tolerance for samey modern military stuff that you do, man. I started to feel my spine curl up just watching footage of that meandering, soulless trash. I think we're past the point where we should be giving free points because a game is "kind of okay."

Not to say you or anyone else here can't enjoy it or anything, obviously, but likewise, people are starting to really get fed up with bug-ridden, microtransaction-ridden modern military games that have about as much life and charm as a bloated corpse on the beach, which is what those games always feel like when I play them.

I can already see the whole thing with Randy Pitchford this year being the number one pick for Giant Bomb's Hottest Mess...

@hughj: It's important to remember my Red Dead 2 had to watch 10-12 old time pictures when I loaded up the game so a couple of minutes. I put an SSD in a USB 3.0 case and had to watch 3 to start the game. Saved my sanity and got me through it. Stop acting like SSD won't be a difference maker if people are programming for it.

Brad got the impression that Shadowkeep is very short but its story isn't actually all out yet. It's carrying on the tradition from Forsaken where the story is slowly rolled out week after week. Without getting into spoilers, Eris has a quest for you to do weekly that results in a tiny chunk of lore and also progress towards a final goal. At the same time the Vex seasonal storyline is also rolling out weekly and is said to have world changing effects. You can already see this in the tower where Ikora has started building a foundation for a Vex gate.

100% agree. Jeff's shirt is a bigger statement than anything the guys said and I'm not even sure that was intended.

The part of the contract that Blizzard is pointing to isn't ment to only catch people making racist statements. It includes people that "...offends a portion or group of the public..." and determining this in Blizzard's sole discretion. It's incredibly vague and can apply to almost anything, even the most minute twitter outrage.

@allkindsoftime: I could not agree more, I was expecting (and I guess that falls on me) a much more heavy handed condemnation of China/Blizzard and support of HK, given the nature of how (Especially BEN) the duders frequently react to such things in the news.

Between Abby slagging off an "ugly man" for being married to someone attractive, and Ben's awful "jokes", this is a disappointing time for GB lately

I cancelled my WoW subscription and deleted my Blizzard account today.

Hearing Brad talk about Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair's time to accelerate from a standstill is weird... there are people who don't just automatically go into rolling? It's basically a more active version of Mario's run button! If you wanna go fast, slap the X! Or Square or whatever button depending on how you're playing.

I have to ask this because I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills:

I bought Destiny 1 at launch. Had a good time with it. Wasn't interested in any expansion until The Taken King. Then, I learned they basically charged $80 forcing you to buy the previous expansions, even though TTK was the expansion people raved about. I never purchased the The Taken King, because I didn't play enough Destiny to warrant that, especially not for 2 previous expansions that seemed lackluster.

Then Destiny 2 came out. Had a good time with it with friends for a few weeks. Lo and behold Forsaken releases...and AGAIN, you have to pay for thge expansion that got actual buzz going, AS WELL as the two lackluster expansions.

So now Destiny 2 is Free to Play and comes with, as far as I can tell, everything UP UNTIL Shadowkeep? With all the blustering and anger mongering that goes on around the games industry these days, I would have assumed there would be some conversation, somewhere, among the Day 1 Destiny demographic feeling a little screwed over by this. It feels like they really milked the early adopters wallets up until this point.

I'll probably download it and give it another shot because I hear good things about the state of the game now. I just can't help but feel like if I were an early adopter, and paid for these installments as they came out, that I would feel a little abused by the DLC model followed by a relatively quick transition to F2P.

I haven't heard anything about "If you've always been part of the Destiny family you get XYZ benefit." Just seems a little bizarre to me that everything around this whole thing has seemed mostly positive. Maybe I've misunderstood the situation, but I just had to spit this out into the ether because it's been on my mind over the past few Destiny news filled weeks.

@cussmustard:I think the important detail you're missing is that Bungie recently split with Activision. Activision is a lot of people's favorite games industry boogey man (for good reason) and I feel most people are giving Bungie a pass for this since they have the assumption this DLC/expansion model was Activision's plan and Bungie was just following orders or whatever.
