Even if this is true (and this is big IF as I am not really sure you are being completely honest), its whataboutism and doesn't contribute anything to the table. The fact is, Ben did say something tastless, don't what you are getting at.

It's tough because at its core Ben's joke (which seems to be the topic of this weeks forum) is actually solid. Eg: "Looks like Dedede finally caught up to him" would have been perfect. It's just the content of his joke was pretty graphic, and the timing wasn't right (too soon bud).

But honestly, is everyone on this forum a lifelong John Kirby die hard or what? Seems more like they're using this as an opportunity to vent their pent up anger towards Ben. Which would also be a pretty disrespectful thing to do towards Mr. Kirby.

@allkindsoftime: I felt the same. Jeff in particular was a bit toothless on the topic - citing the vocal minority of people who don't like Epic because of Tencent. Like really? This is in no way related to that and no one is going to lump you in with those people for taking the side of human rights and democracy.

I was disappointed by how matter-of-fact the crew(with the exception of Ben) was about the situation. They had no real commentary on it and didn't even do a good job of covering the topic.

And just in general lately, I feel like GB is a bit toothless towards publishers behaving badly. It's disappointing because I remember in the Hotspot days and early GB days how they would rightly lay into someone for shit like this. That GB just seems to be gone now.

@curryspiced: What history of disrespect? I've never noticed this in the podcast, is it on video? Did i miss it? Luckily all the work these people do is recorded and archived so I'd love for you to point out some examples that I could take a look at.

As far as I'm concerned this was a one time mistake that made things awkward for exactly 5 seconds. That's it, move on.

I'm not saying all, but some of the people in the comments make me wish Ben does more jokes like this in the future to trigger the fuck out of them. Personally, I don't give a shit about the joke, I'm not offended. If others think it’s tasteless, that's fine. But a couple of people here clearly have an axe to grind with Ben that's beyond any specific jokes he has made and this is just an opportunity to go all out on him.

If you do no think the ''joke'' was not tasteless, maybe that tells more about how of a terrible person you are.

Ben is rightfully getting criticism and I am sure he will reflect on it and be a better person for it, but you sure seem like a kid who just spout nonsense just to see how people react.

JFC, Ben. It's not even just the joke but the tone used the moment the news was delivered.

Werewolves of London is from 1978 so it doesn't even qualify for "worst 80's song". Also shame on that person for hating that song, why did Brad even pick that email.

Also Ben making a joke about a guy dying is a new low point for him personally. As for his comedy, him trying to inject a quirky "Bubsy" comment during that email about Video Game bees is just strange, and not in a good way. Take a note from Drew and maybe think just for a couple seconds before saying something inane.

While i agree with Jeff that the whole China spies on us through the Epic launcher narrative is silly, i do feel like there are legit concerns with Epic's anti-competitive stances & creating a streamer ecosystem where the most popular epic games will always be more profitable to create content for compared to the less popular games from their own & other platforms . Like Borderlands 3 gives a 20% cut to creators, might not be swaying the topstreamers away from their big games, but if you're a tier below that trying to make a living , you have to take every financial boost seriously. As a starting youtuber / streamer, why would you not base your content around that game over say Metro Exodus? Now take that to the indie realm. How will you get the variety streamers to take a look at your new little game when a competing indie game is offering 15% revshare on top? You might not even be on the Epic store where those mandatory streamer cuts are implemented, but that doesn't really matter to the creators. Now you have to match it to get some exposure. Suddenly the whole 'we want to give devs a bigger cut' part is sort of lost and only the big games that can afford big revshare numbers will see a boost from this program.

What I think about whenever anyone from the GB Community tries to discuss music.

We might have seen what was Microsoft's first mistake. That mistake is if they are using a bog standard SSD. Which is why I think Jeffs fears that what storage we have in the system we will be stuck with is unlikely. The PS5 at the very least still could have a system with typically storage and connectors

When people, saw that Spiderman demo that loaded games environments faster, they were not seeing an SSD i action -r not what would be called a 'storage drive ssd". In fact is the Wired article from months ago told us this, "As Cerny points out, 'I have an SSD in my laptop, and when I want to change from Excel to Word I can wait 15 seconds.' What’s built into Sony’s next-gen console is something a little more specialized.'" Not a typical SSD, not something working like a typical SSD - it is specialized.

If Cerny was being accurate what Sony is putting in PS5 is more specialized, and that is a "caché" drive. Sony will invest in relatively small but very fast read and write flash chips that will act as a cashé for a larger storage drive in the system. Relatively small could be from 80 GB to 120 GB, but this cashe could be as larger. That fast NAND flash will hold that game data of that last few games you played along with game assets you might need to start where you left off.

If its does work that way - here is that part people might not like after being promised faster. When we start up a game for the first time that load will NOT BE the 3 second instantaneous load. It will take less time than PS4 in most cases but that won't be due to this case that will rely on the actual storage and they actual media drive. However, it could be that games will take JUST AS LONG to load the first time they are played. But, once loaded, the PS5 will load that from that fast NAND flash cache, and it will load assets from where we left off in that game. That good news is "start data" for maybe the last three games we played with their assets of where we left off for those game will be available to load fast.

So, my guess is PS5 will have NAND flash chips soldered on the board that will act as this cashe. It will then have fast BUS to connect to drive storage. Likely this connector that will allow the use of HDDs, SSDs, or even NVMe card that are put on a SATA connector. So, the PS5 might come with a standard SSD, but is far more likely to come with a 1TB HDD. There is and advantage to this system besides faster over all loads. The smaller amount of faster NAND Flash will be less expensive, if paired with a typically 1 TB hdd that will be cheaper and more flexible to just one SSD. Think of ist this way this cache can be used by ANY DRIVE. If we put an internal drive in that fast cache helps. If we have and external drive, that fast cache will help. If we want to have many storage drives that can all benefit form that fast cache.
