Danny gets my respect for saying Max Payne 3 is the best one because of the presentation is inspired by the movie Man on Fire. The Control thing is very unfortunate and people who bought the Ultimate Edition with money should get a refund. I'm luckily able to play it because of PS Plus on PS5, and while I kind of see what Jeff is talking about with the 30fps mode, its far from a deal breaker. I've played locked 30fps games that looked worse in motion. I want those Ray-tracing effects.

Speaking of which, it does seem discouraging that both next-gen consoles that were supposed to be built to handle ray-tracing quite easily, doesn't seem to be panning out. Hopefully, games actually made for the PS5 and Series X will do a better job. I'm just glad I upgraded from my base PS4 and not from a PS4 Pro. It seems like Jeff and Brad aren't enjoying their next gen consoles as much because of the upgrade not being much of a difference to them. At least that's how their commentary makes it seem.

Also God of War got a PS5 60fps and 4K upgrade. I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned. I know Jeff and some other members don't like the game for some crazy reason, but news is news.

Edit: One last thing: Like I said during the conversation about the Nemesis system during GOTY, some games have already used a version of it. Warframe is one of them. It's the only way you can get access to the Kuva class of weapons, which are some of the most powerful weapons in the game. Outside of trading for them of course.

My favorite Remedy game is the first Max Payne, closely followed by Control. But the last time I tried to play Max Payne years ago, I was simply not relating to the visual of it. Though Max himself looked the most right to me of all three games. Max Payne 2 was good. Max Payne 3 had too much a smear of Rock Star on it, distorted the protagonist. But I did like it, also. At least to play.

@knoxt: I mean in all seriousness it's not bad and some of the set piece action fights are pretty cool with the glitching effects and time warping. It's just not spectacular.

I’ll never understand the “well I played it on pc already and it was better” take. I have no PC. I have a console because it was cheaper and all my friends play on console. Those new consoles aren’t for PC Gamers and of course they’re not as good as a PC, why do people always say “play it on PC”, as if that’s an option everyone has, if you have a beefy PC OF COURSE you play it on PC, right?

One thing that’s really nice about the DualSense in Destruction Allstars is that when your car’s health is low the triggers will kind of rattle to simulate your car being messed up. In fast paced games like this I tend to lose track of where my health is at so this is a really good way of getting that point across. I’d say this one thing in particular is the best use of the DualSense yet.

Finally looked up Buckfast, and... wtf who would make this? God damn fortified wine is bad enough. I’d imagine it’s meant as a cocktail additive but I also imagine Jeff isn’t using it for that.

I am assuming you are talking about Coke with coffee? According to Coke's own website, Coke with coffee has 69mg of caffeine per 12 oz can. This is less than a cup of regular brewed coffee (96mg).

For comparison, a 16 oz. Starbucks Dark Roast has around 220 mg of caffeine. The Americano that I sometimes get is 300mg for a 20 oz. For me, even this is not a lot of caffeine.

Comparing a 2080 to a PS5 and talking about "compromise" having Control run at 30 isn't very insightful. Stop comparing a 1500$ PC to a 500$ console. Saying that Control is a bad start for RT on console and looking at the future even bleaker is also ... not very insightful

I just wanted to say I listened to the first part of the free audio version of this on my phone on the way home from work, and I was really happy to hear Jeff do the ad read for dick pills. I remember it coming up a while ago maybe during a UPF? and he said he'd happily do it as long as it was for "the real shit". It was tremendous.

Jeff has his Buffers mixed up. Bruce is the Boxing, Ready To Rumble, WCW guy. Micheal is the UFC “It’s Time” guy.

I was actually hoping Jeff was going to get and look at the Amico. I have been following it and they definitely have the right approach to a new console. A family console that is not difficult to play that can have a wide appeal. Though I do think $250 is a bit high and I'm not sure how well it'll actually sell. It was originally supposed to be $200. I just assume the tech in it and covid upped the cost.

Stadia's tech is fantastic. I hope it lives on with whichever direction they decide to go.

I personally stick with the platform because I like having to play on any device, even though I have an aging gaming PC and an Xbox Series X and a Nintendo Switch. My preference is to play a game on Stadia if I can, because I can play on anything and anywhere.

If Jan hadn't explained that the truck wasn't his, I would have kept assuming that his truck had been destroyed by the tree from his tweet.

Gridfall is basically a Battle Royale mode. Danny doesn't describe it as such, but it is that.

While I’m also disappointed by Control’s inability to run with both RT and 60fps turned on, the latter is already enough to make the game so much better, plus it still looks stellar on my tv even without fancy reflections.

But I wouldn’t throw all my hope away yet. Insomniac made MM run in a mode that offers best of both worlds and I’m sure they’ll have that included for the eventual Spider-Man 2 too, maybe even Ratchet & Clank as well. Devs like Naughty Dog I’m sure will also do some of their usual tech wizardry.

The Nemesis system was never that interesting, but Giant Bomb have spent years hyping it up for some reason. This is what happens when you only discuss games with a tiny group of people in an echo chamber, and ignore how the rest of the community view things.

Red Ventures if you’re listening, Danny would be a huge get for GiantBomb and noclip would be great content for the site
