I was stand-offish to the graphics in valheim at first as well, but sailing down a stream in the Black Forest at dawn is real pretty. Especially with the music going and everything.

Elon Musk overflow room, seems like extra storage for all the elons that come off the line, but have nowhere to go.

Valheim is a really nice surprise. I'm here for it.

Hey not sure if this helps at all, but I have had the same issue as Danny's mic when my bitrate didn't match the host of the stream. I.E. I was on 44.1khz instead of 48khz audio. Switching to 48khz removed all of that noise.

What game has Jan seen? Valheim is fucking beautiful. It's stylized, but it's totally gorgeous. Light shinning through the forest at dawn or dusk is breathtaking, and getting out on the ocean in a thunderstorm is amazing

I thought this was a decent doc about Six Days in Fellujah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqNvf2gcoys The thing that caught my attention was how the soldiers approached atomic games! They really wanted to make this game despite the heavy backlash, and in the time between I did not do any reading until now, and the game seems to have said nothing about the chemical weapons, civilian casualties, or the destruction of the city that resulted because of the conflict. So TBH I doubt this game will actually come out unless they can keep it so indie that no news networks pick it up. If any network, like Fox News again, realizes this game is happening they will rip it to shreds!

@gabe_b: Valheim is pretty sometimes and ugly others. You could watch a stream of Valheim and not see much to write home about. Particularly some of the buildings just look like up rezzed models used in an RTS. There's just no detail and it looks so out of place.

Overall though, nature wise, I like that game's look. Reminds me a bit of Guild Wars 2's lusher areas. Seems like a fun game, glad to see it succeed.

Also, I've now heard two references to Donald Duck orange juice on this site in the space of 24 hours (watching old episodes of games tapes and they talk about it on one of the episodes).

I'm not entirely against Fallujah being a thing, i like the guns and the "realism" of a game like Insurgency Sandstorm, whose single player campaign was cancelled, but i really don't expect them to make a game of that quality AND have a worthwhile campaign.
It's doable, if you focus squarely on the experiences of an individual who doesn't have a say in how the whole thing went down, you can hear about questionable events and see how that affects you and your unit, in that position you can't protest the actions of your superiors/your country and you've got a job to do in a dangerous place, that could create an interesting juxtaposition but it could so easily be ruined by a story full of bravado and patriotism. I guess i'm thinking along the lines of a Brothers in Arms game, where the story becomes less about heroic actions and more the mental condition of the people involved.
Like i said it's doable, but i don't expect them to be able to do it.

@gabe_b: I think the nice lighting, low res texture look of the game puts some people off. I didn't like it at first but the more I have seen the more it has grown on me.

@gabe_b: I agree that the artstyle is nice, but something does look off about it. I don't know if it's just a certain graphics setting, but everything looks low-res. I'm playing it at 1440p but it looks closer to 720p, and I'm not sure why. It's not the low-poly/voxel art style, because those types of art styles can look incredible at high res, but something about this game's graphics is off to me.

My favourite Master System game was Black Belt, whose box art is literally just a foot.

A lot of Master System box art looks like it belongs in Schoolhouse Rock.

I think the Donkey Kong Country games take place many years after the Super Mario games. Either that or we take into account that gorillas don't live as long as humans.

Jeff's way off on his comparison of Madden and NCAA Football games, as NCAA Football got the new features first. Online Dynasty with its website for joining, setting it up, and doing all sorts of social stuff with it. They had the career mode first and various gameplay stuff ahead of Madden, sometimes a few years before Madden got it. NCAA Football also came out in mid-July while Madden was in August.

@gabe_b: Not sure... Werid considering he plays mobile games. Looks great on my 4k display. I normally hate survival crafting games / clones. But this is the first one to hook me since Mine craft did back when it first came out. I'm renting a server for my friends and I know and bought 3 copies for friends / family. Great visuals and fun game. Best early access game I've ever played.

It hasn't been terribly long since I last thought about it, because of their Farewell to Flash stream, but man, All Your Base took over my life for a period of time. I would play that shit on loop. I was like 10 and thought it was the funniest thing ever.

I remember seeing Dead Rising in EGM and was so excited to about an open worldish zombie game where you could use anything as a weapon. It’s actually the main reason I got a 360. I thought DR 4 was all right but definitely not like 1&2. I played through all of 4 not knowing I had the Christmas pack active and I’m like there’s no way the entire town is dressed as elves come on. Then I saw that was a costume pack.
