What's even weirder is the actual un-edited version of that picture he's blonde but in game he has white hair.

And it's not even the old art back when the game was Ni-Oh.

That's just stupid how "similar," that samurai looks like Geralt...

EDIT: Oh wow, that image was super edited to actually be Geralt. The actual Nioh image isn't really that striking lol

Yea, real sad about Ni-ho. I actually got into it. I like the idea of it a lot, but fuck....So sad to see such shit controls from Team Ninja. From what I saw the game could have some, to a fair amount of promise. Podcast seemed a bit off on a few things, but more or less spot on.

People whine OMG its in Alpha on so many games!! They can fix these things! Ive NEVER seen it happen. EVER. It has the markings of a game that has been in production way too long. I do hope this is the exception that proves the rule, but cant see it getting better then a six in reviews. :-/

Man, I'm happy someone else noticed. Almost felt like I might be crazy, because he looked exactly like Geralt. Especially Geralt from Assassins of Kings, same hair style and stubble and everything.

Other than needing to turn down the camera sensitivity a bunch the control work great. You have to unlearn a lot of Dark Souls habits and expectations, but once you do you feel very powerful. I've put maybe 10 hours into the demo this week. I've been totally sidetracked from Dark Souls 3 since it came out. Nioh is suddenly my most anticipated game of the year, and that says a lot given what's scheduled to come out in 2016.

Holy fuck, Vox Day has MULTIPLE nominations? Jesus Christ.

Yeah. The Rabid Puppies were still able to nominate this year, and they got a ton of stuff on the ballot this year. They changed their tactics this time by attaching works that were genuine quality to the slate, and international works (particularly in categories that didn't have international wins) as a shield against the Noah Ward sweep tactic that was used last year. File 770 did a good job running down the different slates (or rather the Rabid Puppy Slate and the Sad Puppy reading list) and going over what made it on the ballot.

Oh, no NX, huh. They really should... at least show what the NX gimmick is.

If not now, when?

@brad3000: Agreed! I played for a few hours tonight and think it is great. Decided to check it out after the failed let's play by GBeast. It came out of nowhere for me and I think it's pretty sweet. A lot of what they said about Nioh reminded me of the common gaf reply to SoulsBorne games, "Git gud". I mean that not in a derogatory sense, just that learning the game mechanics/systems IS the game, along the same lines as From games. Bloodborne is all about parries, Nioh is all about managing stamina through stance changes and ki pulses.

My only big gripe with it so far is the deluge of loot and weapon durability. They go hand in hand. I'd much rather have less loot that stuck with you. Part of what I love about the From games is the relationship you build with your gear :)

@purc: It drove me nuts when they were talking about how enemies didn't have stamina. They literally have a visible stamina bar right above their heads and managing enemy stamina is a key part of combat - there are even special moves associated with it! Also, the lock on thing - if you guard, it is a standard Z-target style lock & when you stop blocking it becomes a soft lock. I don't get what was so confusing.

I agree that learning the systems is a big part of what's fun about these types of games and what felt fresh about this was that, while certainly a 'souls-like' game, it wasnt just a straight up Souls clone - there is new stuff to figure out.

The weapon durability stuff is just bonkers though. Having to sift through my inventory every five minutes to trade out broken stuff was no fun. I have never liked weapon durability in games. It's never fun. Ever. And it is turned up to 11 in Nioh.
