Quick Look: A Short Hike

This game is great.

This game looks very chill.

If you were a humble monthly subscriber for April 2019, they have added steam keys for this game retroactively to that bundle. That's how I got it, finished it in 1½ hours, was a fun time.

But... it doesn't really show on video but the way this game's pixelation filter or whatever works is really strange.

I noticed it the moment I started playing this but I kind of got used to it after a while.

I've never had eye strain and I do spend a lot of time watching screens. After finishing this game and stepping away from my PC I noticed my vision was blurry and soon after I got a horrible headache.

So yeah.. that sucked.. Kinda wondering if anyone else playing this game has had similar experience. The game has a higher resolution mode but it strongly discouraged using that so I decided leave it on the default. Bad idea in hindsight.

This reminds me of that ooblek game coming out it looks really cute and has a similar style they showed it at some video game presser a few years ago and it looks adorable. This also looks great.

The sound, animation of the gliding is so cute here. Too bad this doesn't turn into some nightmare horror game because that would be a cool twist once I saw the rainy island.

Reminds me a lot of Giftpia, or something else by Skip, Ltd. damn I wish that game actually came out in the US.

Adding to the chorus: this is one of the best games of the year.

This is ripe for an expanded sequel for the switcch. Can’t wait to see what these guys do next.

One thing about these sort of games which I generally find pretty fun, is that they tend to have way more dialog than they should. When you have huge, blocky, pixel letters then maybe you should limit the exchanges between characters to a bare minimum. I actually almost prefer games that have garbled audio for voice and just like a symbol of a hot-dog or something instead of full dialog.

Will I be crossing some animals in this game?

@prsolutions: think it's mostly one guy (aside from the music). This was a side project I think he tried to push out quickly to help support his larger project, an RPG cross between animal crossing and paper mario

So many graphical nods to Animal Crossing in this game, down to the little fishies. I'm so hungry for a new, real Animal Crossing game!
