I'm currently doing the complete opposite from everyone it seems (or at least my friends and the few streams i've watched), trying to make everything really messy, like a campsite in the forest. Dirt paths, lots of trees and weeds.

Wow what an island! There are some real good ideas of things I should work on for my crummy island.

@mikachops: Unfortunately the game doesn't reward this approach mechanically.

If you want all the gold tools you'll need to hit a 5 Star Rating on Crossing's terms - no weeds, no dropped items, lots of flowers, lots of 'scenery' items.

Big respect for Abbey for not time traveling. That sort of attitude is so antithesis to what Animal Crossing is all about.

So much stuff! I don't see myself ever getting to 5-star. I'm trying to strike a balance between civilization and wilderness, so I'll likely never have enough stuff out.

Just throwing out a PSA that I discovered a week or so ago: Use the right stick to scroll faster in menus, especially for Nook Miles achievements because it will automatically scroll right to the one you just unlocked! I noticed Abby doing the same thing I was doing, which was using the left stick or d-pad to go down through the list.

this is a game for people with too much time on their hands

I also have Nana and Al! they're good folks. I kicked the one dumbass I hated out and am super happy with my set of 10 now
