I'm definitely in the Vinny school of build massive bases and huge armies and then watching them clash with other massive bases and huge armies. I would always drop out of RTS campaigns when they had those missions where you had like ten guys you had to click through an environment.

This game actually was very underrated, my favorite bit was getting cannons and wrecking shop.

I remember AoE 3 being BAD. I played hundreds of hours of AoE 2 offline and online, and still play occasionally with friends. I was very excited for AoE 3 when it came out.. and BOY was I disappointed. It changed a lot from AoE 2 and I wasn't interested in all of the changes, I bounced off it pretty quick.

I thought Ben and Vinny fused in the beginning there when their voices overlapped.

Sorry to confuse you! I got confused myself. I don't have the best grasp on the history of these kinds of PC games and would always mix this up with Civ. I knew there was a new AOE in the works, but I just assumed it was #8 or #9 in the series.

I *loved* the start to this Quick Look

AOE3 is my favorite strategy game ever, and I came to it being a big AOE2 like everyone else too. I thought most changes made it better, which made the reaction especially confusing to me.

I guess it's just what happens when you make huge changes to an especially beloved franchise. I'd be disappointed too if they changed it away from what interests me about AOE, even if the final product is good enough as a stand alone product.

I just wish people were a little more precise about what they think AOE2 did for them which AOE3 doesn't.

Also, I just realized that I have more nostalgia for this than I thought. Played quite a bit of this back in the day.

Really looking forward to age of mythology definitive edition, that was always my favorite.

I don't have huge nostalgia for these games, but AOE3 is definitly where i start to get giddy for Age of Mythology. For what it's worth, i think the destruction looks real nice in this one and the water is quite gorgeous too.

AoE3 had better campaigns, IMO.
