HELL YEAH Fuckin' love Kyle, this is gonna be a banger

The day the album came out i had a 2hour drive with a diehard Metallica Fan. He begged me to drive a small detour so he could purchase the album. So we picked the album up and hit the road. My buddy gleefully threw the album in the player but didn´t say a word after the first few minutes and at the end of the first disc he just threw the album out of the window.

I almost crashed the car because i was laughing so hard and i still haven´t heard Disc 2 of this dreadfull album.

I don’t know why but I always find myself listening to this album once a year to see if I like it despite never liking it.

I'm glad Emily goes to bat for this album. It's not an album I enjoy all that much - and certainly not the first Metallica or Lou Reed album I would choose to listen to - but I've always appreciated what a big swing it was.

I don't really like this album, I'm not really sure who the audience for it is (if there even is an audience for it), but I respect the hell out of them for making it.

Pumping Blood actually kinda slaps.

This album is a big swing at a mini-golf game if you know what I'm saying (I'm not sure I do, that just sounded smart in my head).

Exciting to see Austin "Danger" Powers on the pod. Really stepping it up with the guests!

Kyle Kinane is hilarious. Saw him live a few months ago. Can't wait to listen to this!

Given the way I always hear people talk abou this album, I'm surprised it isn't a 'season finale' or something.

All I know about it is "I AM THE TABLE", so I have nothing of value to say about it, but I suppose how defeated y'all sound talking about it is probably warning enough!

Great episode as always, Kyle is hilarious. I'm just glad that James took us on his journey to discover his true form: the table.

PS: I agree, Emily is way too sophisticated for all of us.

I could listen to Kyle talk all day. And that play out track was way too short, man.

I've never listened to this album in it's entirety, but I will say that on the excerpts I have heard when the songs get heavy the sound the band got is awesome.

Dude is my hero. The Swanboy shorts on Cake are the best thing I have ever seen on TV.

Emily was right about it being based on plays by Frank Wedekind. The Lulu plays are full of exactly the fucked-up shit that horribly peppers the lyrics. So, it's not just Lou Reed raving incoherently. It's him raving literately. Scholars of turn-of-the-century German expressionist playwriting is truly an untapped market for metal albums.

Absolutely loved Kyle Kinane on here, I hope he comes back, even though I know it will cause him pain.

Kyle is spot on here, I think, in calling this album the natural conclusion to the Andy Warhol universe. While I *generally, in principle* agree with the idea that "anything can be art," I also think that deliberately pushing that idea as far as it can go actually tends to result in art that's shallower, not deeper - less interesting, not more challenging (or, as a wise man once said, "a big swing at a mini-golf game").

Christ what a horrible album, you poor people!
