@Jeff@danryckert That moment when 17 warns that he will join the fight if someone interferes on the fight between 18 and Vegeta is included on Dragon Ball FighterZ. If you're playing against 18 and call an assist, 17 will pop-up with a counter assist. You can also hear his speech from the anime during the gameplay.
There's probably a better video or gif out there, but this was the only one I could find:
seeing how drawn out this show is getting i wish they watched a more well rounded show like avatar the airbender. Thed be done by now and that show gets progressively more intelligent and the fights are always different each time. That said the good thing about all systems goku is that they respect the game more yet i feel they havent gone back to it enough. They might avoid the game cause spoilers. Seeing so many super sayians when the show has like 3 makes it hard to feel like anyone is really in danger.
"they should watch" arguments are the LAST thing they want to hear.
Hey, whenever you hate Bulma: It's all filler stuff from the old anime that they didn't cut out of Kai for some reason. Namek Bulma was almost entirely filler Bulma, so all you get is bitching. Same for Gohan flying her home. I think that's like, a single panel in the manga?
I think Bulma's pretty fun, but she's unbearable when they drag out single panels or one cutaway and make entire episodes' worth of entitled moaning and bitching out of them.
@netkitten: They'd probably enjoy Super up until the stuff directly following the Future Trunks Saga, but the ToP is literally 40 episodes of the kind of stuff they complain about the most. The pace of Super is also a problem - it's not quite as atrocious as original DBZ but it is definitely somewhere in between DBZ and DBKai, in terms of there being stretches where things are not proceeding as quickly as you would want.
@danryckert You mentioned Vegeta being a bad husband in this episode but he and Bulma aren't actually married, they just had a one night stand when he was back on Earth at some point and then he bailed into space for another year.
Fairly certain they just start referring to each other as husband/wife and it's just implied that it happened somewhere along the way. Could even technically be a translation issue but I know at some point I was definitely googling "When did Bulma and Vegeta get married?"
@_brojangles_: As opposed to what though? I'm rewatching along with the podcast and this just felt like normal DBZ to me. I can't imagine enjoying this series if logical decision making and a tight plot are what you're looking for.
@jeff It appears the "DUDE MY TRUCK" line was an added line for the TV broadcast (which aired on Nicktoons) that was mistakenly left on the uncut DVD's. He's supposed to be super dead.
I’m a casual dbz fan at best but some of Jeff & Dan’s thoughts on these episodes make me glad their doing this series & not something I actually care about.
Listening to this makes me believe that all they really want is 3 min youtube clips with wrestling story lines stitched between them.
@furiousjodo: After Buu saga, from Battle of Gods from onward they actually act like a married couple. He also acts very differently as he actually refuses to participate in the Tournument of Power until Bra is born.
The androids decided to move to a more populated area because there aren't many cars passing by @ the spot where they fight Vegeta (Apart from that one truck that gets blown up).
Also, man.. 16 deserved better in DBZ. He's an awesome character. I will also say that Yamcha continues to be more of a character than Tien in DBZ. The most noteworthy thing about Tien is that his friend is a little mime guy.
I like a lot of the "scrambling to find a plan" stuff, which explains why I like so much of the Saiyan saga filler. The slight aimlessness is almost the point. The androids apparently aren't out to destroy the world, but the future man says they do destroy the world and either way you can't stop them. What do. I think that's a fun conundrum.
I always forget that almost immediately after Trunks shows up and owns Frieza things kind of slow down a bit. Having said that, Jeff and Dan reacted a bit more negatively to this batch of episodes than I expected which makes me really curious how they're going to react to things going forward. As for the Androids... I mean, Android's 17 & 18 are very much products of the 90s. In a lot of ways they feel like the creation of very cynical adults that are terrified of teens. Also, I agree that their motives are a little strange but the DBZ movie History of Trunks muddies the Android's motives further by making the version of the Androids in Trunks future seem much more Joker-like
@johnymyko: That's pretty cool. I'm surprised they would add that to a fighting game because of balance concerns. Unless there's some other major advantage Vegeta has over 18 that it's countering.
@lokez352: Thing is, I wouldn't say he's an "idiot." He's just grossly overconfident and a massive asshole with a complex about proving that he's the strongest due to his pride. Vegeta's fatal flaw is his pride. Goku's fatal flaw is that he got brain damage from being dropped on his head as a kid and is an actual idiot as a result. Like Goku giving Cell a sensu bean so Gohan can fight him at full strength. Goku does this because he's a moron. Whereas Vegeta actively helping Cell absorb 18 so he can prove that he can beat Cell even in his perfect form is something that he does not because he's stupid, he perfectly understands the ramifications of his actions, but because his pride dictates that its the only way to prove himself. Though either way, both of their actions consistently cause things to get drastically worse throughout the series than they otherwise would be. Frieza was right about saiyans, tbh.
I really like the way that Dragon Ball handles time travel in that you cannot change the future, rather, tinkering with the past creates alternate timelines. That's a unique way of handling it, as far as I know.
Sounds pretty similar to Steins;Gate's concept of time travel and worldlines.
@sevith: My argument would be being over confident to the extent of Vegeta is stupid. And it always blows up in his face. If you do something and know it's dumb, your still idiot. Lets not forget he's responsible for the whole next arc.
There's no mention of what episodes are discussed in this episode in the description. It just says "Dude My Truck." Had to look up the previous episode to figure out what's covered in this episode.
It sounds like they've hit a low point already, which is a bummer because it... isn't really going to get any better. Vegeta's character only degrades from here and Future Trunks reaches "why is he even there?" levels of inactivity. Dan's right that the Android Saga had an amazing setup, but if it hasn't engaged them so far then I doubt it ever will, and it all goes downhill pretty soon.
One solution to this is to build our own time machine and go back to the only Dragon Ball that really matters! Just kidding, but I honestly feel like they'd get more out of OG Dragon Ball at this point.
To contrast everyone saying that the show only gets worse from here, I am going to counter with some optimism. The end of this episode makes it sound like a lot of why Dan and Jeff are down on the show right now is more because of where they think/predict it is going to go, more so than because of what is actually going on so far. The show takes a drastic turn in a way that I think very few people would predict with no prior knowledge, and I'm pretty sure that they're going to be feeling pretty great about the show by the end of the next batch. Just look at the episode synopses for the next 5 episodes and see that basically every cynical prediction they make about what happens next is subverted to some degree.
I'm not saying that the whole rest of the Cell arc is going to return to Namek-arc-pre-Freiza-fight levels of greatness, but the next, say, 2-3 batches of episodes go interesting places, and the batch of episodes to end the Cell arc has some good moments.
@hawkef16: I was referring to the buu arc. But yes Vegeta with cell is worse than Goku with Frieza. Cell was already a pretty big threat that had taken out several towns and had surpassed the threat they were initially training for. Also Goku wasn't letting Frieza absorb/consume people to get stronger.

For the record, the Androids are more like cyborgs. They are humans augmented by machinery. In Japanese they are called Jinzo-ningen which translates to artificial humans.
Also, Marron, Krillin's girlfriend wasn't Bulma's cousin. She was just a random filler character that resembled Bulma.
Also, the Android and connecting Cell saga are the best arc in all of Dragon Ball.
@liquidprince: World martial arts tournament saga has to be the best arc for my money. All of young adult Gohan's antics in high school are fantastic, as is everything that happens right up until Buu is released from his ball.
Vegeta condescendingly saying "of course we're going one on one, this isn't a battle royale" to the supreme god of their universe in response to his incredulity that he, Goku, and Gohan are planning on taking on their enemies in 1v1 fights rather than ganging up on them, and then the god's utter disbelief at how powerful they are, has to be up there as one of the best moments in the entire series.
@njn: The entirety of the Buu saga is pretty disappointing. That's not to say it doesn't have good moments; young Gohan's antics with Videl is some of my favorite slice of life stuff in the series. But I've said it multiple times before, had the show ended immediately after the conclusion of the Cell games, it would have been far better then where it ultimately ended up.
I've always liked the term Artificial Human because of how many different types there are. You have cyborgs who started off as humans (17, 18 and 20), fully mechanical units like 19 and 16 and the fully biological android Cell. Dr Gero really was a genius.
They are gonna hate vegeta for the rest of this arc (understandably so, up to when he gets his by you know who, his character was grating in arc)
But I’m gonna make a prediction, they are gonna love the buu saga and super, as that’s more in line with what they liked about the show, and vegeta’s best moments are in those arcs
@garr123: I think he thinks that this is going to be about the androids being the main villains, and is introducing them as psychotic destructive children, when the truth is that they're mostly chill dudes who happen to want to kill Goku and that in 5 minutes we'll get to meet the arc's real villain.

I have no idea how someone who has seen every major arc can come to this conclusion. Even the Buu arc was better.
@liquidprince: I'm with you on the Buu saga being pretty bad, but if you cut it off after Cell you miss out on the World Tournament which is a (brief) return to form in terms of the kind of stuff that actually makes the show great (Gohan struggling to have a normal life while balancing the responsibility he feels to use his strength to help people, everyone else being flabbergasted wheneve they see Goku and friends do anything, etc.)
@doncabesa:never said "they should watch" just said wished they did. Small difference in that im not asking them or saying they should. Just wishing, for sake of relating to dbz, in some timeline i wish they watched a more consistent story.
Example, I have a friend that watched infinity war cause all the hype and came back confused and didnt know what was what cause they never watched a marvel movie. They then went on metacritic like you do and gave their less informed score than someone who watched a few prior movies. Wishing someone watched some marvel movies before dismissing their take that infinity war had no character development and was confusing is different than saying they should watch. Not saying they should watch a thing just saying i wish they did so their take on animated material for first time viewers (dan and jeff dont watch animated material) was not swayed by a slow moving anime plot that buys time for a then drawn weekly manga.
