With the pre GT/Super demise of Android 17 where would this put him in the New Generation? I’d go Diesel as he’s destined for much much much better things and despite being very successful initially feels like he sucked at the time compared to what he’d become…actually he’s Hunter Hearst Helmsley after the Ultimate Warrior match and 18 is Diesel.

16 getting jobbed out after doing next to nothing is kinda reminiscent of Goldust and Cell is HBK going from tag champ to Main Eventer and looking at the title. Trunks should be Brett Hart but he’s too cool and yet not good enough for Cell thus making him Razor. Obviously 19 & 20 are Mabel and Oscar

The Piccolo and 17 fight is one of the best in the series.. in my humble opinion that happens to be 100% correct and factual.

Also i had hoped they could squeeze in 1 more episode before e3, too bad. Waiting 3 weeks is going to be rough.

@bbalpert: He went ham with his power, but it doesn't seem to damage the opponen. If the intent was to create a hole deep enough to get you all the way to Australia (ala Total Recall reboot), then he succeded.

Re: Trunk's comments about surviving in the chamber -- it's mentioned very much in passing in these episodes but the chamber has increased gravity and atmospheric pressure, which is why Trunk says that and why Goku couldn't handle it for long as a kid.

Also I haven't watched ahead but I'm pretty sure there's a lot of Goku eating in his time in the time chamber, too.

I don't know how much of Goku eating in the chamber makes it into the Kai cut but there's certainly a feast after they come back out.

Oh my god, we're so close to Mr. Satan right now.

Very happy with how entirely grossed out Jeff is by Cell's, everything.

Was expecting more of a reaction to Cell's goofy scream than the t-shirt but ah well. I'm cautiously optimistic that they are completely unaware how the Cell saga ends with Gohan being the one to take him down. They barely recognize his existence. I also can't decide if they'll love or hate Hercule.

Jeff is right about that Switch thing being weird. I stumbled on it a few weeks ago while looking through the Japanese eShop, and it's like this softcore, choose-your-own-adventure photobook. It is the _last_ thing you expect to see on a Nintendo platform.

There's not only DLC (1000yen on top of the base 500yen price), but there is a different "game" per girl (three so far, but I have to imagine more are coming).

@lesca4: Why would they ever guess that's how it ends? They really don't start setting that up until much closer to the end of the saga.

@nickfoley:His goal was to stall for time. He knew he couldn't beat Cell, but he still sacrificed pretty much all of his own life force to keep Cell in that hole. Not to mention the fact that being able to push Cell back in the first place is a monumental task. Piccolo gets smoked by Cell before he even absorbs 17. But Tien still manages to contain the post-transformation Cell (temporarily).

In terms of relative character strengths, this is like if Yamcha went to Namek and said "Don't worry, I'll keep Frieza busy by myself until Goku is better."

God, I need whatever the opposite is of a room of spirit and time.

They don't have many ASG episodes left before this saga is complete and shit goes down in a way I'm very excited for them to get to.

I don't know how exactly their blu-ray collection shakes out but I hope it includes "The Final Chapters" because personally it's some of my favourite stuff; best art in the show (no digital redraws either) and has a lot of great both drama and humour.

The Suck-Off Saga

I didn't mean to imply I thought they'd figure it out just by watching the show, but rather they just knew about it because of the popularity of the franchise in the same way Jeff already knew Trunks was the son of Bulma and Vegeta and how they know the Cell Games are a thing.

I wish the whole Z cast could fight enemies in Super like they did back in Z. These are some of my favorite episodes.

Also, it's too bad they are not aware that the music choices in the original dub are so much better than they are in Kai. Also also, I can't stand Gohan and 18's voices in this version.

17 is alive at the end of Z. He's off in the mountains somewhere as a park ranger, you see him briefly holding up some hunters when Goku needs everyone to stick up those hands. He just doesn't do anymore fighting until the other series.

This is the most I have ever heard the phrase "Sucked off an android"!

I do love the Cell saga but I really like the Buu saga. I think my main issue with the Buu saga is that even the Kai version is too long. If not for that the Buu saga would probably be my favorite. A lot of people dislike how things play out for Gohan but I love high school/adult Gohan.

Also, if Jeff & Dan want to see what the androids are capable of they should watch The History of Trunks. The dub is a little rough but overall it's fantastic.

Does Kai just use the original japanese music or another new soundtrack? Because the Japanese music was definitely better than the original dub music.

Oh right, yeah. No idea how much random knowledge they've been spoiled on, but I'd guess Jeff and Dan don't know the specific demise of very many characters. It's usually not much of a meme, so I wouldn't expect them to have heard about it in passing.

These episodes hold a special place in my heart. I moved to Okinawa Japan in 1992 and seeing these episodes on Japanese TV while living in a guest house on the military base was my first introduction to anything Dragon Ball. I was blown away and it's not far off to say that it greatly influenced the rest of my life lol.

To a 13 year old American Kid, Android 16 was the baddest motherfucker in the entire universe.
