The opening titles sound worse than ever. They've reached YouTube parody levels for the song now. I mean, it doesn't even sound like it was recorded properly.

Loved the "Go go gadget destructo disc" scene tho.

Just out of curiosity, is anyone else watching plain old DBZ? I'm not buying all of Kai so I'm watching DBZ on Funimation

DBZ is superior but I hope for your sanity's sake that you are not watching the awful old dub. Funimation cropped the image to 16:9 on their website and the image quality looks like shit.

They need to watch all episode's of One Piece so Jeff and Dan can pronounce, Monkey D Luffy.

There was a lot of sucking off in these episodes.

The two week wait was killer, glad my favorite podcast is back! Also I feel sorry for all the recommendations that are going to be flying at Jeff & Dan for the next few weeks...

ONE PUNCH MAN!

I'm pretty bummed at how little was made of Gohan's first transformation here. Both back in my day and on my rewatch that scene really stood out to me as incredibly significant - Gohan literally tells Goku to try to kill him so that either he will transform and be useful, or if he can't transform then he'll die but that's OK because he was never going to be useful in a fight anyways. And Goku wordlessly agrees to this - he is fine with killing Gohan if he can't manage to turn SSJ at 10 years old (or however old he is there)... terrible father.

Hey Jeff and Dan, think of Trunk's and Vegeta's new transformation as "Super Saiyan 1.5". For Trunks specifically, he's an Ascended Saiyan and essentially just gets incredibly strong but loses a chunk of speed.

Peak dumbass Krillin, peak badass AND dumbass Vegeta. All around a fucking great block of episodes.

Also, man, Final Flash loses so much impact without the original English dub's music for me. When that piano kicks in you know shit's going down.

Every time i see these old dub clips i just think to myself this is way worse than i remember. It somehow always surpass my expectations in how bad it is. Just absolute dumpster fire of a dub and the music completely clashes with what the original scene was going for and it sounds awful.

More than one anime? You've made a huge mistake.

OH MAN. Opening with "suggest anime to us" is dangerous. But really. @jeff, @danryckert, forget any other suggestions you get and just watch the 1983 anime SPACE ADVENTURE COBRA. It's all on the youtube channel of NA distributor. You can watch it here:

Yeah, I think they would get a kick out of it. Also, it's pretty short so it isn't a gigantic undertaking.

The Vegeta bias is strong in this episode. Like how do you watch what happened, call Krillin a dumbass for minutes and barely touch upon the fact that Vegeta directly and consciously helped the main villain/murderer/w/e get the upperhand? Like c'mon, guys.

@chen_96: I can't wait for Jeff and Dan to recieve 1000 suggestions for anime they obviously wouldn't have any interest in watching. Jeff has voiced an appreciation for 80's era anime aesthetics so he'd probably be down with any of the trashy, action-orientated OVA from that time like M.D. Geist or Cyber City Oedo 808, but you can forget about anything released in the past decade.

It's not an All Systems Goku comments section without a JP VS ENG OST debate. I'm glad we're back, boys!

@miceman64: Only if there is a "One Piece Kai" it's insufferable otherwise.

If they're soliciting suggestions for podcast material, I'll be happy if whatever they get recommendations for isn't "AAA" titles that premiered in the 90s. I don't think I could stomach analysis #2748 on cowboy bebop or trigun or evangelion or whatever.

Gonna take back part of what I said to agree that, yeah, Cobra is that good shit.

I think Cowboy Bebop is all around good but while Jeff might get into it I'm pretty certain it's too slow for Dan.

Maybe Fist of the North Star is something that Dan could possibly watch and enjoy because there is a ton of mindless violence.

I really don't like how inflated they get when they're powering up for their alleged Super Saiyan 2 form, so I'm glad they quickly move away from that.

Characters make some real ill-conceived and selfish decisions in this arc especially, but as far as I'm concerned that's the bulk of it for this saga, god it's hard not to just shake your head at these dudes.
Yes, Krillin might've blown it for a crush, but Vegeta dawdled and even helped perfect Cell happen, that to me is way more egregious.

Getting very excited about the next few ASG episodes, hope the Anime Expo news won't put the brakes on it for yet another week.
