I like this "quick upload/show livestream replay" system they've got going for them!

Good job getting to the rhino man! You guys made great progress. One person getting the wolf at that last stage is definitely key. Also, the eyeball monster is the easiest boss - get to where his big eye is at the start, don't press anything, and then ELECTRIFY him right at the big eye when he appears. It will fry him almost instantly and he won't have time to attack.

The should title all the live streams "This is the Run?". That would clear up all the confusion?

I have put over 1000 hours into Darkest Dungeon and have not beaten it. And that seems less frustrating than this bullshit.

Seriously, this game is so much less than "just memorize! Like Contra!" because Contra had consistent rules that worked.

This is the Run is such a good series. Always love when I see a new episode go up.

I'm going to guess that you have the Giant Bomb QoL add-on installed. There's an option in there that turns off the video progress bar for the This is the Run playlist. A lot of people, me included, thought that it was more interesting to watch this series if we didn't know how long the videos were.

But you can totally turn that off in the add-on options. Just click on its icon, click on Add-On Options, then uncheck 'Hide "This Is The Run" Spoilers'.

*MAJOR BOSS STRAT INBOUND*

Rhino in the Middle - From watching your encounter with the Rhino Boss, keep it a long distance game. If you are out of his punch range, steam jets out of his shoulders diagonally-up into the air before he charges at you. As the steam escapes, jump and dash over him to his back side. He should attack your "x" coordinate position as you are dashing over him. As you land, turn and shoot him once, get some distance, and prepare to jump again.

Vinny was stumbling across this pattern, and you can potentially keep Rhino Boss in the middle of the screen if your timing is precise. Mind you, the "tell" will ONLY signal if you are out of his standing punch range. If you stay within his reach, he'll automatically go into his high punch/low kick attack and noses will be broken.

HienD83 has things covered, but I'll add that if you get cornered anyway or things go to hell, kneeling & punching works better than most attacks, since he'll usually try to punch at close range. He'll kick & get you eventually, but you'll be able to get a good few licks in. (You *can* actually beat him by just kneeling & punching and doing a damage race if you've got about a life or so to eat - less, I imagine, with two people.)

ETA: Alternate fallback strategy: You can also dash at the boss from a crouching position. If you dash when you're standing, you're likely to get hit. Let him charge when he lets off steam as described above, then dash twice when he's almost across the screen. You should end up at opposite ends of the battlefield. Rinse and repeat, continually trading sides of the screen. The timing takes a bit, and he'll probably nail you with a kick a couple times, but I was able to beat him with a couple bars of health. This is not meant to sub for the strat Vinny discovered and HienD83 detailed above, but if you need a backup, here you go.

Interestingly, I learned during experimentation here that the boss's health seems to be, to a degree, randomized. Over several trials for each method, it took me anywhere from 14 to 19 dashes or 23 to 29 punches to kill the final boss. (I did make sure the boss flashed after each hit, signaling that it had registered.) This could be chicanery in how it's counting hits, given the unreliable hitboxery we've seen, but I thought it was worth noting.

ETA2: Tried counting hits against the first boss, and it took either 54 or 55 punches (w/ 4 trials). The final boss health variability is probably programming oddness rather than anything intentional, but that is a much wider spread than the Level 1 boss.

Having now seen the last boss, I can official say fuck this game.
