It annoys me how the Sky announcers pronounce Haas as hASS. It is like they are mocking American accent.

There's a version of this podcast in the premium feed that is 2 minutes shorter. I assume, without having listened, that Alt+F1 is now ad supported?

Man, Vinny wasn't kidding about how costs have gone up and how they want to raise membership prices but can't.

@cooljammer00: Yup. They have a break about 45 minutes in where Drew asks people to submit survey answers to http://podsurvey.com/alt for potential ad sponsers. Seems reasonable since they moved the podcast from premium to free.

how can Danny and Drew not have mentioned the "Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Rally Championship" in "Racing all around the world" last week?

I had to hear about it from the fine folks at Radio lemans instead.

@burgavo: As someone who's seen many rounds of the ITRC, even before their iconic hookup with Clonakilty Blackpudding (Ireland's favourite blackpudding), I'm slightly distraught that their big chance for international exposure may now be gone.

I was at this race! First actual F1 race I have seen myself; one of the perks of living in Japan this year. ^_^

In Räikkönen's best years in McLaren (yes, I know he won his WDC in Ferrari) as a young wonderboy I thought he was generally well liked in the F1 English speaking forums. This was naturally before social media.

He was certainly way more aggressive driver in Sauber and McLaren compared to his WDC Ferrari season and years after. Though, arguably less so than Hamilton's first years or Verstappen now. There's the famous Montoya meltdown on Räikkönen. Not that Räikkönen really did anything wrong.

C: Always a privilege to have Danny O' Dwyer on retainer. High-year-tenure doesn't exist here. Once a duder, always a duder!

I can understand Hamilton playing with his phone during the driver's briefing bothering people. I see it like if you're on stage in an orchestra and have a long break during a song, you are whipping out your phone to check your Twitter.

It doesn't matter if the media is asking boring questions or if you think it's too serious or if you don't want to be there, it's part of your job. Either do it or don't bother showing up.

Ricciardo goofs around a lot, and it's great, but he isn't doing it in the middle of a briefing. He knows there is a time to be professional and a time to relax.

I have never seen Hamilton attempt any kind of humor (or even just being human) off the track like what we see from Button, Alonso, Ricciardo, or Massa. Hamilton's social media presence is just selfies and inspirational quotes. I'm not saying Hamilton can't be funny, but his latest attempt really fell flat.

Hey Duders, been a big fan of both F1 and MotoGP for years, awesome you've been discussing both on the pod.

Speaking of, regarding running tracks in reverse, the GP bikes used to run the Indianapolis circuit in the opposite direction of the F1 cars. Not sure why. Also not sure why either series raced at that boring track...but that's a different topic. Anyhoo, it's a thing that happened.

Glad both series are in Austin now--went to Austin for GP this year and it was raaaaaad, that run up to turn one is impressive in person. Have fun, fellas!

I really like Alt F1 (one of the best F1 podcats out there) but please stop going thru every race turn by turn, stick to presenting the highlights and fill the rest of the episode with F1 related topics/emails.

I think Hamilton being on his phone was extremely rude, i'm against that behavior in any situation, if he didn't want to be there why did he show up?
I know there's probably a push from certain aspects of the team that want him to stand in front of cameras, or sponsors with their own demands and that's a discussion he needs to have with the people in control of all that, but at some point his job shouldn't just be to enjoy himself, there are billions of people out there who hate their jobs and if Hamilton can't be bored for a small amount of time given his pay packet then he's an even worse person than i originally thought.

Nah, they're not mocking. Brits just tend to use a short "a" when pronouncing foreign words and names for some reason. See also pasta and Massa.
