not to mention the like, basic structural integrity issues with a hollow planet, everything would collapse, we would instantly be annihilated DAN

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - someone please clip the Dan questions like "what happens when we eject all the lava from the core of the earth into space?" or "what if: jet egg with propeller" and send them all to Neil deGrasse Tyson for follow-up. I need legitimate answers to Dan's absurd questions.

The core is responsible for Earth's magnetic field, which protects our planet and atmosphere from the Sun. And also removing a large portion of the Earth's core would significantly reduce the amount of gravity that we have on our planet. Dan is just talking about destroying the planet.

If it was possible to scoop this hot bean would it be possible??????

I feel like the episodes are getting more and more surface level knowledge of the "what," of the subjects. The first few dug into different aspects. Still enjoying it nonetheless.

Dan has really found his stride on this show. The dynamic between the two is amazing.

Dan hypothesizes fish that swim in magma, which don't exist. However, magma vents under the ocean often have unique biomes of critters that manage to survive the incredible heat and pressure, and those things are metal as fuck.

Edit: Also, someone needs to tell Dan that the core is a solid ball of iron and nickel. Just regular ole metal

Pro-tip: Don't in fact go to Hawaii! The native peoples of Hawaii have long been calling for a halting of the tourist industry but it reached a breaking point after COVID. Dan's description's of the academic discipline of Film Studies is literally insane. There is no way someone walks away with a college degree by just knowing the directors and stars of a bunch of movies: that's not what Film Studies is.

I think Dan is onto something about removing all the magma. Plus since you're removing mass from the earth, that means gravity goes down which means we all weigh less. It's like a diet for everyone.

There's lots of active volcanoes in the world that can be hiked which is fun, it's just like a long, rocky uphill walk. Mount Merapi in Indonesia is one of the most active in the world but was a popular tourist activity until 2018 when it started erupting.
