You know I never thought of it but Ben's right, Evrart absolutely is a boss fight. I felt like I was constantly on my heels when talking to him. Truly the Guardian Ape of Disco Elysium.
Perhaps this should have a spoiler warning on it? Not that I personally mind what was shown here, but I can imagine someone not expecting this to show as much as it does.
I genuinely like that after finishing Sekiro, Genichiro really isn't that fast at all. It really feels like something in my perception had changed and suddenly the rival wasn't even worth looking at. It's still the fight that, once learned, really nails that feeling of combat being a dance, just like those old samurai movies.
Imagine making a best boss fights of 2019 list and not having a single fight from DMC5 on it
Forreal, that's bonkers that Vergil at least isn't here.
From the ability royal guarding literally EVERYTHING including his judgement cut, to the buster arm moments with Nero along with DT unlock, the taunting and just how goddamn Vergil he is, Royal releasing him out of his DT flight, juggling and driving a motorcycle on your brothers face, the secret ending with Nero in Bloody Palace.
Just a bit crazy, it's one of the coolest things that makes you feel like a badass and simultaneously fighting for your life.
Genichiro is the moment in Sekiro where you either learn how to play the game properly or you stubbornly bash your head against the rest of it. The rest of the game was so much fun once it had clicked.
