This was great. Vinnyvania is low-key one of the finest series on this website.

Also I may pick this game up at some point, looks like a blast. Loved Ritual of the Night but never checked out the first one.

Robert is a 90s superhero comic book character. He has a gun, he swears, and he has no staying power.

The first one is SURPRISINGLY robust in that it has multiple endings, multiple characters (which can be ignored, recruited, or killed for different endings/gameplay) and TWO New-Game+ modes that change things up.

@beard_of_zeus: Yeah I'm a huge fan of Jan's interpretation of ol' sniper Bobby.

I imagine its probably harder to coordinate, but these group sessions tend to be way more entertaining to watch. This was really fun to watch.

Would love to see Vinny tackle Castlevania 64 at some point because that game is such a mess. Would lead to a lot of laughs.

Gonna go ahead and say it (especially now that Dan isn’t here): Curse of the Moon is better than Ritual of the Night. Didn’t play Simphony back in the day, just watched a friend play it, but the boss fights, music, art style and combat are all (subjectively!) superior in Curse of the Moon. Then again, I think Blasphemous is better than Ritual of the Night, which I know, is blasphemous.

Very happy this is back and that y'all have the group streams going.

But, boy... I hastily played some of this in anticipation for the next episode and...Vinny is not going to have a good time next episode. Shit gets rough fast.

@janman it seems like no one else has, so I've got to second Ben's Kids on the Slope recommendation. One of my top 5 anime for sure, it's so good. Lots of feels though.

Vinny, watch An American Tail at your own risk. There are SO MANY scenes with children being exploited / put into peril, and a lot of stuff about parents being tormented by the loss of their children. It's not a "fun" movie at all - it plays on a lot of the fears that kids and parents have in ways that strike me (personally, anyway) as exploitative and kind of gross.

Did they do one of these for the first game? If not, why not do that first?

They did indeed! It's on the carousel way back before Ritual of the Night, and AFTER Symphony of the Night. It's only a couple of episodes, so it's easy to lose in the shuffle.
