VinnyVania: Bloodstained - Part 01

I thought I'd watched the first 20 minutes of this live, and it turned out to be over 45. This is why I love/hate Giant Bomb Live stuff: NOTHING makes me lose track of time like that these days.

I already knew this was going to be a less traditional Vinnyvania because of how different the Symphony style is in its structure, but I´m glad the show is back nonetheless and am looking forward to seeing Vinny tackle the game.

I like both styles of 'Vanias, but am with Vinny in that I prefer the older ones. Now the good news is that there´s a good chance that Inti Creates will make another game like Curse of the Moon in the future, so hopefully that one will be great and on the table for a playthrough as well.

It's funny that they bring up "guess the Hayter" while listening to the opening narration, which was also done by David Hayter.

Dan keeps describing this game as solidly set in Symphony of the Night, but I'd say it's actually a strong blend of SotN, along with Aria/Dawn of Sorrow, and Order of Ecclesia. This is the Quintessential Igavania.

I played the game on hard (unlockable via "HARDCORE" name) so it's interesting to see how easy it is on normal. Game seems poorly balanced on both difficulties but still a fun time. Seems like something they can improve with in patches; they already tweaked the difficulty quite a bit on the day one patch.

This is one of my favorite games of the year (so far), but I still feel like the game would be massively improved with another 6 - 12 months of development. There's always hope for a sequel, though.

I've been rewatching Vinny Vania and I definitely miss Austin but man do I love this feature. :)

I mean it makes sense. If you like the high drama and rich, intricately woven narrative tapestry of wrestling, anime should be right up your alley.

Probably way too late for this now, but the flash kick move with the shoes is actually a string of 3 attacks like Fei Long's Rekkas from Street Fighter. So you have to input quarter circle forward + attack 3 times in succession to do the whole thing.

It does a decent amount of damage and, more importantly, it allows you to move forward a significant amount in mid air. This is especially effective if you delay the input for each kick so you can go further.

That'll do pig.

CIRCLE OF THE MOON

I will always maintain that Castlevinnia is the best (and most obvious) name for this series. Either way, this excites me.

I am about to watch this but before I do so I wanna say that this game is prob the best Castlevania since Aria of Sorrow and is just an absolute joy. I am still just a few fights from the last boss because I really just wanted to get some patches and content before I got burnt out on the game since I spent lots of time mindlessly grinding and am at 98.5% of the map and just don't want it to end!

The game is really, really good and I highly recommend it to anyone. It looks beautiful at 4k on PC and am sure it looks great on everything as well but the art style really looks great in motion and they nailed the aesthetic we are expecting from these type of games.

I just really hope they release some amazing DLC after launch that extends the life of the game my only downside is that besides having a ton of items through crafting it never felt useful as finding items in the world was always stronger and once you got the first decent greatsword you don't need anything else until the next really good greatsword or whip and no reasons to use ammo at all because it is expensive and useless compared to just smoking everything with a 2 handed sword.

Vinny has expressed his preference for more classic style Castlevania games in the past. Did he play Curse of the Moon at all?

I love how dumb this game is. I love how everyone but Dan understands this and are cracking fantastic jokey riffs. Some of the best from Vinny and Alex I've seen in awhile, pleasure to watch the chemistry.

To be fair, it's not much different than other Igarashi Castlevania games. But SOTN was so polished you could easily ignore the story elements and bad voice acting. The GBA and DS games didn't have much speech and the brief dialog among characters was simple enough to give a nod or button though. But for whatever reason this one seems extra dumb, as if they doubled down on the cringe-y aspects. For a guy that's not really ever been into anime or cartoons this one is glaringly cheesy. However, it does seem decently well made, and fun to play. It's like they had a fly trapped in amber and made Jurassic Park 2, for better or for worse.

I only watched a bit of this live, but it made me think of an old Vinnyvania episode where Vinny, Alex and Austin do a bit about a goth kid who wants to go and live with her uncle Dracula but her parents won't let her. Does anyone remember which episode that is?

I think Vinny was complaining about input lag. PC version at least has reduce input lag option, under other tab in settings. I am not sure how it works, but maybe it will help.

Is there a problem with the upload? I can't download as it says its "processing".

That first fight against samurai David Hayter also gave me some trouble, in large part because I kept underestimating the hitbox on the fiery explosion slash. Then like a true Symphony-inspired game the difficulty curve completely fell apart and I felt way too overpowered for everything after it.

After watching the drawbridge part, I don't think I realized vinny was a videogame savant

The last 4 minutes of the video seem to be completely borked.

I am embarrassed to admit that despite 100%ing just about every aspect of this game (I got the Overlord achievement), I did not find that secret and was just as surprised as Dan.

While it may be a great game from a systems level, visually this is giving off very strong vibes of something you might see on a CSI tv show where they show a snippet of a fake video game. Like it's made just well enough to be a step above that, but just barely. The 3D, the lighting, the textures.. it all seems, and I realize this is very mean, but it all seems kind of like a joke.

Is it just me or does Miriam sound like Mickey Mouse when she attacks?
