That's a good description for what this video is. As much as I like Mega Man, and even though I enjoy all the talk that goes on around the game, if the game being played is barely acknowledged then I'm not so sure what the point of playing it is.

If everyone's having fun then maybe it doesn't matter, or maybe they should actually just play something else.

You can chalk it up to not having played for awhile, even though he's about as skilled at it as he ever was, but between this and Sunshine I'm pretty sure Alex is just bad at platformers and his opinion on them should be taken with several tablespoons of salt.

Gotta be good at games to have an opinion on em' now?

MacGruber is a fine movie. But if Abby agrees with Dan that it's the BEST COMEDY EVER MADE, she needs to turn in her Comedian Card ASAP.

I wish I could get excited for these, but Dan learning time ft. movie/book talk while Alex plays Mega Man for a bit just really doesn't do it for me.

I generally agree. I don't really mind because I can just ignore these (and I'm sure for people who enjoy them they're great as a sort of secondary informal podcast), but I think it's better when the games they pick out are things they have at least a remote interest in (as a group, not individually).

Regardless, appreciate y'all taking the time to record. Just please don't turn all of y'all's content into 1 person playing a game while 3 others talk at random about movies, the 80s, and things Dan doesn't understand. Variety's nice to have and it feels like a lot of GB content (QLs excluded) has been of this sort recently.

Doesn't count. The Blues Brothers characters weren't owned by NBC since they were created by Belushi and Ackroyd prior to SNL's existence, and besides which they were a musical guest and not a sketch per se. Note that Lorne Michaels had nothing to do with that movie.

If it qualified, then yes The Blues Brothers would indeed be the best SNL movie. But it doesn't qualify as an SNL movie. If the Blues Brothers is an SNL movie, then you have to count A Mighty Wind as well, and absolutely nobody considers A Mighty Wind an SNL movie.

Kinda with Vinny on Game of Thrones. It sounds really good but I just sort of unfairly dislike it as a long time fan of the books.

The book talk had me feeling like it would be better for society to not immediately jump to "this thing is terrible and bad" when something popular doesn't suite your fancy.

B games may have went away because everything has to be either the greatest thing ever or it's just complete shit. Once something that is pretty decent gets popular enough, the hot takes start coming fast and the "actually, this thing is shit" storm hits full force. There's no middle ground

Yeah but we're still paying for this content, which i am seriously considering not re-subbing if it keeps going this way. There are plenty of youtubers that do a better GB than GB do these days. If you go back and watch one of the endurance runs or vinnyvania and then come back to the mario sunshine series or blue bombing you can see the huuuuge difference.

Tbh BGE and BGW feel so disconnected these days I wonder why they bother with both 'teams' rather than focus on just one, or rebrand one to something else.

last book I read was "The Dumbest Kid in Gifted Class" by someone named "Dan Ryckert"

This feature is great. You get interesting side conversations with a side of Alex torture.

I was hoping that this would be an excuse to give Mega Maker a spin while Alex continues his play through. It would keep Dan's attention occupied enough to avoid the physics questions, and it might even spur some interesting talk/analysis of conventions in Mega Man level design.

This is the game where I started to taper off of NES Megaman. I loved Megaman 4 but 5 was too strange for me. Wave Man's level and I did not get along.

Wait, they played Mega Man?

I really wasn't paying attention to what was happening on the screen except for the bosses, but that's okay. I was never that into Mega Man anyway, so nothing of value lost there. Though I'd still maybe say that the rest of the crew maybe could've talked at least a little more about the game, because this definitely felt more like a podcast now.

...and I could've left it for monday to listen while working, had I known!

Yes Vinnie! The Core! I love that movie, it's complete trash, but glorious trash! Stanley Tucci is amazing in it.

For years I thought it was supposed to be tongue in cheek but I can't find anything that say's it is. I really hope that the writers thought it was actually good.

Vinny describing Snowcrash as the "angsty teen" version of Neuromancer is prettttty good.

For the record I think both those books are kinda like that (Neuromancer less so) but damn I love 'em.

Yeah, I've got to agree with some of the other comments on here. When 3 of the people on the stream are so disinterested in what they are seeing that they talk for 2 hours about literally anything except the game being played, maybe it's time to move on. This would have been a fine podcast, but watching it live, I gave up about 3/4 of the way through. Watching other people being bored isn't really great entertainment.

I love you guys, but this hasn't been one of your best weeks ( in terms of streams, the Beastcast was awesome). I'm sure you will bounce back though. Maybe try looking at some games from this decade that everyone hasn't already played to death.
